Or, in frustration they will tell you that you will burn in hell

You apparently don't know the difference between the two. You don't understand The Law of Moses and the Covenants.
How many Covenants are in The Old Testament? Who all had Covenants? Which were abolished and which ones remain today?

Eph. 2. 13:14 Tells us, Jesus Christ brought the Old Testament and New Testament together as combined.

Hope this helps you. Why they say this.

I'm sure you must mean some other Christian. I pretty much have an answer for just about any question, even if I have to admit that I don't know, that's still an answer isn't it? Now, if all you want to imply is that Christians routinely give you what you consider to be inadequate answers, then that's another matter entirely. No one is expecting you to understand Christians or Christianity unless you've been "called" to do so by the Father. Apparently, the Father has not so called "you" at this time. But never say never. In the meantime, accept this little prayer for your continued well-being and may the Father richly bless you and yours, and may He choose you as well. Sincerely, UCSteve

Because some people are under the impression that only things in the New Testament, i.e. things that happened during Jesus' ministry or after it, are important to their faith. This is untrue... Jesus said that he did not come to abolish the law (much of the OT) but to fulfill it (Matthew 5:17). We are also told that ALL of the Bible is inspired by God and useful for teaching, correcting, and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16).

It has nothing to do with not having an answer its because it is a fact! Jesus was not around until the New Testament why is that so hard to understand?

There are some things in the Old Testament that applied to Israel as a nation.

Christianity is not a physical, but a spiritual nation. We have laws geared to the individual.

I'm a Christian and I have an answer for everything. I have never used the Old Testament as an excuse and never will.

Because the Old testament is more complex, there were things back then which can' tbe understood, but we know that god has a good reason to do things He did in those days...we jus tdon't have the knowledge...we don't know everything ya know...we're not God:)

because they follow the word of their "pastor", preacher, whatever- and those people have corrupted the word of God mercilessly- after all, they are representatives not of God or Christ, but of the government- their "churches" are 501c3 corporations and therefore are creatures of the "state" and not of God- Christ said "I am here not to break the law, but to fulfill the law"- and if people actually read and followed the bible rather than their corporate leadership, they would not tolerate the abuses of power and the lawlessness of "Dubya Caesar"- the evil in Iraq would not have been allowed, the evil plotted for Iran would not be being planned, and Christians would be following the commands of God to "love their neighbor as themselves" and would not be the hatefilled dogmatic lost sheep that they are.
and yes I am a Christian, and I will never set foot in one of those evil, idolatrist "Christian" 501c3 corporation dens of iniquity, unless my dead body is dragged in by those lost souls who have not an inkling of what Gods word says.

It's easier than thinking. The word "gospel" mean good news and was not written by Jesus, it was written at around AD 280. Before that who knows?
