It isn't slim women that they find attractive, it's healthy women.
it comes down to instincts. Men want fit women because they are healthy, active, and will have fewer complications when giving birth.
Men don't like women who seem to have an eating disorder, because they don't have a strong enough body to give birth.
Attraction is based on psychological needs as well as instinctual. A long time ago, heavy-set people were attractive because it was a sign of wealth. Same with pale skin--it was the sign of never having to go outside to work. Nowadays, a tan is attractive because it means an active lifestyle. A slim tummy is a sign of healthy eating, (this may not be the true case. I'm big, and I've been eating healthy for a year and still can't seem to slim down.) voluptuous hips is a sign of healthy child-birth, perky breasts is a sign of youth and being in your prime. As for little features--the shapes of eyes, the length of a nose--that is how someone was raised. Often, people will be attracted to what they are used to... I'm attracted to men who look cuddly, because half the men in my family are the same build and it's what I've accepted as the norm.
Some men like bigger women, like I like bigger men. It's all based on psychology, nature vs. nurture type stuff, and instinct.

Not all men prefer slim women, I like my women with a little meat on their bones. 5'6 130-150 lbs It's a nice comfortable size. However Women generally do have similar requirements for their men. It's funny how many Larger women won't look at any man without a six pack yet they themselves are like over 200lbs.
These superficial restrictions on dating need to go away big time. It needs to once again be based on personality, or we might as well go back to a society of arranged marriages.

Wow! What a loaded question. MEN do not "always" anything okay. I am a man. Making broad generalizations is the first way to get into trouble. Men are individuals first and belong to the group second. Every man is different. This guy may like that and that guy may like this. Okay. Find a guy that likes you first. . .not your parts. If the guy and you can't get along it is not relevant if you are skinny or not. There is more to this story than meets the eye.
If you feel you are overweight then you should loose weight only if you say so. If you like yourself truly and the guy is superficial about your appearance. . .try another guy.

Not always. If you are a teenager is normal to be bother with such things. But remember that it is not true. Men are interested in the personality as a whole. But still, there are plenty of different people on this planet so you shouldn't generalize...
Good luck!

No. Not true in the slightest.
HOLLYWOOD wants you to think that.
Ask any guy. Men want women with meat on there bones. We want bubble butt women, and large breast. However, some like just legs or feet, or butt. The majority. Asking most of my male friends. We prefer a woman who is propartioned and NOT thin. The Paris Hilton, Olsen Twins, Jennifer anniston, and Nicole Ritchie thing...is NASTY.

Not all men do! If they insist, you don't need them. Women are as desirable as they feel. If they don't feel desirable, they won't be to men either. Change what you dislike, improve on other areas. Look in his eyes when you talk, you will get his attention if you touch his hand ever so slightly...

They're healthier (to a certain point of course, anorexics are gross). They're less likely to die of heart disease or get diabetes. They can run faster, which appeals to a primal instinct to have offspring that can evade predators and catch prey better. They have better sex (more energy, more sensation, less self-conscious about their bodies). Other men want them also, which means having one raises our status among our peers. Being with one makes us more desirable to other women. There's probably more but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.
