The answer is yes and no. My mother was a cook for a college. And when I was young she did teach me a few things. I also, took home ec at school. But most of my learning was from reading and trying. I picked up recipes from people and watched shows. I have learned to cook from various sources but, mostly from trial and error and now I am considered the best cook my friends and family have. If you want to become the nest don't be afraid to try anything

Nope, I 1st learned the basics in home economics class that was over 30yrs ago. Then I just practiced with cook books and watched others experimented and yes Im still learning there is no perfect cook everyone has there way of cooking and you can never learn enough about cooking.

Yes First at home then in a resturaunt. I watched and learned how to cook for ALOT of people. Try cooking breakfast at 2 am for a waiting line thats 5 hours long!!!

My mom started me cooking when I was 4. I went to college and took cooking and baking from 29-31 then when I was 45 I became a restaurant manager.

no,and she was a short oder cook! My dad,was a master chef,and no,he refused o teach me. But they had a whole bookcase of cook books and since I loved to read,i was free to look if I wanted. My first dish was eggs,then french toast,and finally, I moved onto peanut butter cookies. I still make them, but I buy the dough. And yes, I have a selection of cookbooks,and i use the net to find recipes. I have not one,not two, but 3 recipe boxes,the latest just added because i coulnt fit them in any of the others... Yes i am a great cook,and no,she didnt teach me, she let me watch and take notes...( yes i did take notes,and to this day, I can't duplicate her sausage gravy recipe!)

Yes, my Mom, and my Aunt. They grew up on a large farm in up-state NY and they knew all the tricks.
