Photoshop is a serious tool, as in a $600 serious tool. However there is a feature lighter version called Photoshop Elements from Adobe as well, its only $100. If fact version 4 just came out... but one thing I would do would be to check ebay for older versions of Photoshop, like Photoshop 7 or 6, maybe even CS1. But do be warned, this is a professional software, its not that easy to figure out, there are books you could buy, and heck, a magazine devoted to just using Photoshop called (duh) Photoshop User. SO dont expect to jump right in and make professional looking images... it take practice.

You should get Photoshop CS2 if you're serious about graphic designing. You can get it from Fry's or Best Buy. On the internet, you can buy it from the Adobe website.
