Rape is one of the most heinous crimes imaginable. Yet few people know that the Bible often condones and even approves of rape. How anyone can get their moral guidance from a book that allows rape escapes me. Perhaps they have been lied to about the Bible and carefully detoured around all the nasty stuff in the Bible.
(Judges 21:10-24 NLT)

So they sent twelve thousand warriors to Jabesh-gilead with orders to kill everyone there, including women and children. "This is what you are to do," they said. "Completely destroy all the males and every woman who is not a virgin." Among the residents of Jabesh-gilead they found four hundred young virgins who had never slept with a man, and they brought them to the camp at Shiloh in the land of Canaan.

This is the key to the book of Judges, "In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes." Judges 21:25

The behavior is not condoned. This is what happens when people stop following God's plan and do what they think is best.

Thus there are many troubling stories in the book of Judges.

Just because something is in the Bible, that doesn't mean God approves of it. He gives many examples of sinful behavior. You have to read the context and the consequences of the behavior to see how God judges it at times.

Yes, the bible does condone rape and infidelity, and alot of other bad crap, and people are too brainwashed to see and know that. there was this guy who told this male guest to screw his wife and if she said no, do it anyway, lot sat there ans watched his daughters get raped, i believe women were raped for punishment. it seems weird, such a holy book sayd unholy things, but it was written by man. i think xtians may use this to justify it. it was written by Man, and so will they say that for the part about god hating gays? that it too was written by a man? or that a women cannot ever say no to her husband, and whatever happened, she has to cover his hide, because that's the law? yes i know i can be a lawyer. people bneed to consider everything when rreading a book that was written by chauvinistic men. and God doesnt have gays. How can a "man" full of love hate?

Okay, I just read the complete verse from my Tanakh(translated from Hebrew) and they were talking about a war they fought with the Benjaminites. When the Israelites fought with them they took all of the women who had not known a man carnally and pretty much held them hostage so they could make peace. Then they were talking about not having enough wives so they sent the women out into the field and then the men picked themselves wives. It is not about rape and they reason you think so is because you have dirty mind and you are not reading the WHOLE story; you are just picking and choosing what you want to understand: selective reading.

I noticed in your questions that you have some kind of hang-up about the bible. Hey, fella, I'm non-religious, so whatever it says in the bible doesn't bother me at all. Why should it, it's not my book?
If a question is asked about religion, answer it. Reading something, just in order to find fault doesn't seem to me to be a good way to spend your time.
If you don't like the bible, try the avesta, or the koran, the torah, or Grims Fairy Tales.

murder, pedophilia
Num 31:17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
:18 But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

the bible is just full of this kind of stuff

actually, virginity is treasured in the bible...

Do you find a verse where they are ordered to rape them? Nope.

Virgins were protected and taken as a wife...

If you learned and studied your bible a bit more...you'd see that. But I"ve noticed you take a verse and make a story around it that fits your own belief.

Don't quote something to me you don't even have a clue about. It did say they were raped! Take your preaching to those who wish to listen to a false prophet. Unless you have been there don't talk rape. Further more you can't talk about heinous crimes unless you've been there too. Have you? God Loves and yes even I find a portion of my heart to love you. I will pray for you!

The verse you quoted mentions nothing of rape. What are you on about?

If you are suggesting that 'deatroying' the women who are virgins means raping them then I think you need to read it again.

I don't know if that was a question, so my comment is that the bible has many not-so-nice things in it. I suppose it all depends on how you view the bible.
