The historical Buddha, Shakyamuni, was not THE Buddha. He was A Buddha. The principles he taught did not apply only when a Buddha was present on the earth. Who knows if at this moment there is one or there are many enlightened people on the earth, but it doesn't really matter. It doesn't affect the principles of Buddhism at all. Shakyamuni, before he died, told his followers not to worship him because he was just a man. Any new Buddha appearing on earth would not be some kind of savior, not would his/her presence necessarily make it any easier for anyone else to gain enlightenment. The concept of a Buddha being alive on the earth can be a stumbling block to following the teachings of Buddhism. The truth is in you, not in someone else.

I believe the one you are talking about is Ram Bahadur Bamjon in Nepal. He has been meditating for about a year now. He had disappeared for a while, but it is rumored he went further in to the forest because he was being disturbed by the thousand of visitors he was getting. Of the many monks to visit, none claim him to be the Buddha and even he has stated that he is not the Buddha. I have not heard about him for about a month so Im not sure of the latest. And remember...you are the buddha and I am the buddha....we just have not realized it yet.

Yeah I heard about that boy Ram Bamjan a couple of months ago. I read the article. He won't be back for another six years when he is 22 years old.

Amma was 22 years old when she manifested her Krishna-Consciousness.

You know when I saw the video of him online, I felt really strange, like I know who he is. I cried, and I don't know why I did. Three years ago, in a vision, an Asian man, a Great Soul, came to me and filled me with up Pure Love. I did not know who he was (his name), but we recognized each other and knew each other Soul-wise.

It made me wonder if there was a connection between the two? I am not a practicing Buddist. I follow Hindu philosphies.

Guess we'll just to sit around and wait for him to be ready to reveal himself to the public. All Masters, Great Souls, enlightened beings always help others on the path towards God-Realization.

He's in the forest he said he'd be out in a few years. Apparently all the commotion around him made him retreat further back because he couldn't concentrate with all the noise. Just when it was rumored he was actually a statue. NPR had a segement on him, sorry I'm not a Buddhist but I've heard about the boy that meditates so hard.
