The bible was written by man and has been interpreted and twisted many times over. Nobody really knows what the original books looked like. Some of these things were surely taken out of context. You can take anything and twist it into something it isn't. Also lets face it times change. Many believe the part of the bible (forgive me I cant give you an exact place) that tells you not to eat certain things such as animals with a split hoof (pork) were written for the protection of the people at the time. Can you imagine what food poisoning rates must have been like before the fridge and stove? Not to mention the safety practices of the FDA keeping our meat safe for us. So the church asked us not to eat unsafe things. Food poisoning still happens but I don't believe that I am going to hell for eating the pork chops in my freezer. (of course some religions hold this belief very dear...please excuse me no offense intended) With religion you must have faith in what you believe. God also gave us the wisdom to choose what we believe. Are you asking us to tell you what to believe? It sounds like you are having issues with your faith and are unsure where to place your belief. I suggest you seek counseling within the church. They can answer these questions for you.

Pharisees were like you, they were trying to catch Jesus doing something what they could humiliate Him with. They did not stop thinking what Jesus was really about. They have had their religion and their rituals for long time, and they were so much set into their own habits, that they did not recognize that they had the Son of God among them.

By any means Jesus does not advocate child abuse. Mark 9:42 " If anyone cause one of these little ones who believe me to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around his neck." and Matthew 19: 14 "Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. "

He meant that disobedient children were like you, making fun of His teachings.

When Jesus asks you to abandon your children and wife, it means that if they do not believe in Him...it is better to follow Him than try to please people who do not keep God's promises in their hearts.

it seems your looking for something to attack with or your angry with God i dont know your personal situation but i think what Jesus is saying is that we are all suppose to give up everything and follow God. we have to remember that we are Gods children he is our father we all know that we fall short of the Lord everyday none of us are claiming to be perfect but we are trying and thats all i know to keep doing is to pray and ask for forgiveness and not quit.. theres another problem also that is so many people just pick a couple of verses from the bible then start shouting to the others of how the bible contradicts itself..this is not so,,read the whole bible and not just pick verses try starting from the beginning and i think youll come out with a totally different perspective of what you have now

Jesus loves everyone, and is especially fond of innocent children. He would NEVER want us to mistreat them.
