When you say the bible says, "Follow me or you will go to eternal hell", isn't that more of an ultimatun than a choice?
Since hell isn't such a welcoming option.

Not if you know you need Him.

If you are dying and the only thing that will save you is chemo, you can look at that as an ultimatum. But if you are convinced that you want to live and chemo is what you need, you're going to take it. You may even find yourself profoundly grateful for it, despite the side effects.

There are many things you must give up in order to follow Christ, but He offers so much more.

When I was younger and felt pressured into Christianity by my parents, I looked at it that way. I even rebelled for a time.

Once I saw my guilt and my need of salvation, Christianity has been a different experience. It is freedom rather than slavery.

Yes. The whole idea that a loving God would say "believe in this or off to hell you go" sounds more like extortion than anything. Reminds me of the GodFather... with an offer you "can't" refuse.

Well it really is a choice. People can live a sinful, and quite honestly, fun life here on earth, but they will burn in hell later for their CHOICE if you dont repent. While if you live a life like christ, you will be rewarded for the things you resisted the temptation to do.

Yes and no. You can choose (as many people on here have) not to believe in His existance. It won't change your fate, but the choice is still yours. God doesn't want robots, He wants people to love Him because He is their Creator and Father, because He gave His only begotton Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. He doesn't want you to love Him because you have to, but because you want to. If a person feels obligated, there's no point. It's like alot of wealthy people say... "I don't know if they are in love with me, or with my (status)" fill in the blank.
