Pierre Plantard
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
Pierre Athanase Marie Plantard (March 18, 1920 – February 3, 2000) was a French author and publisher and the principal perpetrator of the hoax of the Priory of Sion that later inspired the books Holy Blood, Holy Grail and The Da Vinci Code, among others.

He used a fictitious surname, Plantard de Saint-Clair, from 1975 onwards. The surname Saint-Clair was added to his own surname on the basis that this was the family name associated with the area of Gisors, a part of France associated with his hoax.

A French court ordered a search of Plantard's home, turning up many documents, including some proclaiming Plantard the true king of France. Under oath, Plantard admitted that he had fabricated everything, including Pelat's involvement with the Priory of Sion.[1] Plantard lived in obscurity until his death on 3 February 2000 in Paris.

because most people are not going to do any research, let alone extensive research. they will simply take it at face value. even doing a little research is often not enough. you used wikepedia but since wikipedia is user submitted, what you posted could be false as well. If you searched hard enough you would find counters to what you posted.

Second, the Da Cinci Code is a work of fiction, but it is written in a style that mixes a lot of plausible things along with some truth/ Some of that "truth" is debatable but enough people believe it to make it have some merit.

If anything the book/movie hopefully will motivate people to do more research. Truth be told, there are things about the history of chritianity that are far more disturbing than the possibility than jesus might have been ,married

The thing to remember about Wikipedia is that it's content is posted by people on the internet, just like the answers you'll receive here.

When you get into the definition of the Priory of Sion, it's a super secretive group, whose existence can neither be confirmed nor denied. Much like God.

Many non-Christians will ask how a Christian can believe in the Bible.

However, the thing to remember is that the Da Vinci Code is a fictional story. It's sold in the fiction section. It is based on thousands of years of speculation and some historical evidence to back up these theories and woven into a great murder mystery, blurring the line between historical facts, great fiction and theories that cannot and have not been proven nor disproven.

It is very plain that the Da Vinci Code is false because the author tells you that it is fictional on the first page of his book. The reason why people wish to believe the Da Vinci Code is they don't wish to believe the Bible. They don't study the Bible so the first thing that comes along that they think will disprove the Bible they believe. Psalms 12: 6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Psalms 12: 7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

Well, "The Da Vinci Code" is a work of fiction--as its author openly admits, and yet people do persist in taking its ideas as facts. Why is that?

I suspect it is because the people of today are starved for stories of/experiences of the sacred feminine--which has been denied them by most organized religions for centuries, many churches and temples going so far as to execute women who took on active roles in religion or claimed to hold special wisdom their male counterparts did not have.

I read the book. I found it to be poorly written--filled with choppy language and redundancies, not to mention a number of questionable facts and/or theories...and yet, I understand its wide appeal in Judeo-Christian circles.

For people that really want to experience the sacred feminine, I suggest some non-fiction books, like:

When God Was a Woman
The Feminine Face of God
Celtic Women's Spirituality

regardless of what people who've study or seen Da Vinci Code purely, there is incredibly some good study that helps the full "Jesus married Mary" concept. study Rex Deus and Holy Blood Holy Grail for starters (2 of the books that Dan Brown used to study his e book)

that's not really "proof" that just discredits the existance of the Priory of Scion.. but we know the Knights Templar exist and theat Christ's life and history and still shrouded in 2,000 mystery - despite the (arguably, opinionated) accounts written in the Bible.

ps.
Winnie the Pooh IS real, he was a bear from Winnipeg (hence name) at the London Zoo, during WW1, a macot of a Cdn regiment that was left there when the troop wen to the front. AA Milne brought his child there and created the fantastical stories based on that very bear (TRUE STORY - look it up!)

Believing in the book as a book isn't important. What should be remembered and always considered is the history of the Bible as we have it today.

Everything Dan Brown said about the Bible being edited, manipulated to fit a certain agenda, being political, was true.

Whole, complete chapters, whole books of the Bible, were omitted. Many more so were 'doctored' to fit the political climate at the time all of the books were being collected and abridged.

I am a Christian, so i do not believe in the theories put forward by Dan Brown in his novel. However, I think that he is a very intelligent person, he took a lot of myth that comes from gnostic and other sources and wove it into a compelling story. Also, he attacks the Catholic Church, an institution that many people today believe needs to be overhauled. All this appeals to peoples' sense of mystery, so they believe.

I think it's because they don't want to face the truth. Many many people do things like that.
I think it is amazing that no one has ever written a book or made a movie about how Buddha wasn't who he claimed to be or that Allah slept with so and so..

Only Christianity gets the privilege of being attacked. And why is it that whne people stub their toe or cut their finger ect., that you never hear anyone yell "Oh BHUDDA! Or shout "ALLAH" Why is it that only the name of Chirst is used?

ya know if you think about it, if a perosn were to choose to belive it, then you would not belive in the Bible. Therfore you would not belive in God's love, His forgiveness, His salvation, ect.

That means that Christ did all that work for nothing! :-)
