there really isn't a recipe for soft cookies, try under cooking the cookies. If package says 15 mins try takin them out in 10 mins. Put them in the freezer or refridge that will stop the cooking process. Good Luck

Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar [or Splenda, natch]
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons hot water
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350° F (175 degrees C).
Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are golden brown, but not dark brown. Remember once you take the cookies out of the oven, don't leave them on the sheet for more than a minute or 2, because they keep cooking and will get hard, and make sure you store them in an airtight container, so they will stay soft and chewy. :-)

Just take your favorite recipe for CCC's and add about an extra 1/4 cup of flour to it. That always makes cookies a bit more soft.

be sure to use real butter. margarine makes the cookies hard and dry, i use and exta egg, and like the rest said.. watch your baking time closely.. the moment the 'shine' goes off the cookies in the oven, take them out to cool..
