first of all never show anger by punishing ! it only shows your weakness and confusion , and can make things worse! when the dog shows interest in something you want it to leave alone as soon as the dog smells and or gets close enough to and looks at the wires make a what i call a distraction noise, like a single sharp ST SST, noise out of your mouth . never yell or show frustration . it will only confuse the dog . dog' s live in the present only .some people think that just because you find something the dog has chewed on an hour ago and you you shame the dog when you find it , the dog will remember the past and then figure out that's why your mad NOT TRUE! the dog only knows NOW your mad. never retaliate. by using weapons like water or your hand. distraction and love are the answer if it dose it when you are away crate it . and work on it when you get home. for more email me.

Oh have I got a great answer for you. I have a cat that since he was a kitten like to chew wires..so one day we were in a hardward store, Canadian Tire, and saw some PVC clear tubing..its either the plumbing or electrical department. you get them to cut it in what ever lenght you want and take it come and slit it down the middle and wrap it around wires..the 1/2 inch works well, they can't chew down though it. and most people never notice them in our home, we have them on all lamps cords and any other the silly kit can find. We just could not "train" a cat not to chew and tried the sprays etc and this was the best way to keep him safe

I don't know if it will work on your chihuahua, but when my young cats were kittens I used to have a horrid time teaching them to not chew on my computer cables. I yelled 'No!' at them a lot AND swatted their hind ends. They got a lot of love and pets when they were good, though.
It does help to have something that it is okay to chew though- and a kennel for when the dog gets out of hand. The plastic piping is a good idea too, for keeping your cord from getting strung all over the floor.
Good luck!

Get yourself a bottle of Bitter Apple spray for dogs. You can find this in the Pet Store. Spray the wires thoroughly but don't spray the outlet or you or your dog could get shocked.
If that doesn't work, then try Pepper Spray to put on the wires. Dogs generally don't like pepper in their mouths.
Is your dog a puppy? Puppies and dogs love to chew things. Have plenty of toys that your dog is allowed to chew on. As well as small dog biscuits. That will help his teeth and be a nice treat as well.
If all of that fails, then you should take your dog to the vet. He or she may be able to help you better.
Good luck to you and your dog!! Pets are trully treasures to us humans. They provide us with plenty of love, friendship and life long companionship to humans who love them too!

It would be difficult to rub a bad tasting liquid on all your wires and considering she needs to learn the "rules" you need to be very consistent and each time she goes to bite the wires you tell her a "firm" NO!! Then give her a nyla bone ( I simmer mine in chicken broth for an hour every so often- my dogs love it!) and when she starts chewing on it, praise her!! Keep repeating this process consistently and she will get the idea.
Best of luck..

It's time to put your dog in a kennel when you catch her doing something wrong, it won't hurt her,but it'll make you feel more reasured she isnt getting hurt, If she bites hard enough it could kill her, so try it, just to see if this helps.
