The bubbles in the beer, are as you know, carbon dioxide.
Its the co2 that causes dehydration. Your better off having a soft drink.

because it makes you pee a lot as your drinking you are actully becoming dehydrated thats why you can sit and drink so much beer.I have drank a case of beer in one afternoon and some of the night.thats 288 ounces a couple of gallons I would not be able to drink that much water.the water would quinch your thirst beer does not.

I believe the liver uses water to process the alcohol, and then you eliminate it.
If you would drink water when you get home, as much as the beer you had, or at least a quart, your next morning will be much nicer.
