Depends where you got it from. If it was from Limewire or similar, uninstall and get the proper version via Amazon or somewhere. Is there a good reason for it to try to access the internet? Was it updating or were you trying to download it? Or did your firewall prevent it from running?
If you got it off a genuine disc or Roxio's website don't worry; it is a legitimate program from a legitimate company. Just change your firewall settings to allow it to run on your pc.

Not sure I understand your question? Did you download the program or your firewall blocked you registering the program? I have version 7 and thinking about upgrading to ver.8
I have Norton firewall and it seems no problem here?

through setting of your firewall, change it to enable the Roxio to connect to Internet.
Uninstall Roxio first, change your setting, then install it again, and proceed with the registration
