It sure does look like some of you know alot about the Bible for people who are not supposed to be reading it. Why do you come to this section...to condemn? Why are you reading the Bible if you do not believe? seriously, I just want to know why?

Jesus spent alot of time with unbelievers. I don't think these happen for no reason. You have to look past the little comments that don't even present an argument and are just there for a stupid comment. There are others who truly have no reason to believe. There could come a day when someone wants to know more and that is why it's good to have Godless people here. God came to save the unbeliever. he doesn't have to worry about those that already believe. Trust that God has his hand in this as well. It's all Good!

I read the Bible before I classified myself as Atheist because I wanted to believe in a God. Believing in God is an easier existence, you think that you'll continue living after you die and you can blame God for everything negative that happens to you. So I read the Bible trying to "find God." Then I realized it was complete bull and I became atheist. I've read the Bible two additional times. Once to see why a Christian would ever believe. I thought there must be something about it that makes millions of people believe in it. Never did find it. The final time I read the Bible was for religious debates. It helps when debating if you have read, and understood, both sides of the issue. So now I can bring up all of the contradictions in the Bible very easily. Reading the Bible shows maturity and tolerance on the part of the atheist. Many Christians don't take the time to read and understand about evolution, for example. That's why there are constantly questions about "If humans evolved from apes..." when the Theory of Evolution clearly states that humans and apes share a common ancestor, not that humans evolved from them. I've read the Bible so that I can understand both sides, so that I can see why people do believe. I come to this section for the same reason, to see why people think the way they do. I'm interested in anthropology, I want to know why people are the way they are. So I study all sides of things. I've started reading the Quaran as well, it has nothing to do with believing in it. It has to do with understanding different cultures and lifestyles.

Lady, last time I checked, this was a "religion&spirituality" section, not "christians only." If atheism is a big part of a person's life, what other sections could they go to to ask questions or talk about it? And what kind of dicriminatory stuff is that: "you know a lot about the bible for people who are not supposed to be reading it." So you have to be a believer to read the bible? There are a lot of reasons for atheists reading the bible - to get knowledge about what what a large portion of the population believes in, to examine the claims made by christians who cite the bible, to attempt to find inconsistencies in the bible, or even to understand the philosophy of jesus, who some atheists even admire.

So I want to know, if the bible is the greatest book ever written, why are you bashing people for reading it, and making claims about what people are "supposed" to be reading?

P.S. I think goatboy has hit the nail on the head. Is it really so inconceivable to you that people read things that they do not agree with either to gain knowledge or to examine their own beliefs?

These are the top questions in this section:

1. Is there a god?
2. Why do muslims _____? (something negative)
3. Why are atheists______? (something negative)
4. Why do christians_______? (something negative)
5. Are you going to heaven or hell?

I've heard this question many times and the people who act surprised as if they had never seen it asked before quit being hypocrites seriously. We study ALL religions to point out how stupid and senseless they are, not just the bible or christianity. The only ones that condemn are christians and their hell threat. And what makes you think we aren't supposed to read the bible in the first place? Are you afraid of the contradictions and loopholes we might find? You see to make statements about your religion we STUDY AND RESEARCH TO FIND FACTS AND INFORMATION. We don't go making assumptions without evidence like most christians. So try not to crusade against us and try to live in peace alongside "heretics" for once.

Well, maybe they feel sorry for u and want to help u think.

They are free to look at anything and read anything with an open mind and they see many people are brainwashed by so called religions and in the name of religions many cause great atrocities.

Do u think if the Judeo/Christian God believers and Allah God be livers are not there the two groups would be each others' throats?

Just the fact that atheists exist is enough proof that God does NOT. Don't tel me that God's own creations have a free will to be atheists. That's hogwash!!!

First off, this is not called the Christianity section. Second, I do know a lot about the Bible. I have read the bible for knowledge. It is important to fully understand something before you deny its validity. I come to this section to stretch my mind. It is not to condemn, but to understand. If you open your mind to reason, there is no telling where or how far it may lead you.

Although Christianity may be based on blind faith, most atheists are atheists because they question life and don't just accept what they are told. I have read the entire Bible because unlike you, I wanted to see both sides before I make up my own mind. As far as coming to this section is concerned, don't you want to talk to people who have different views from you?
By the way, excellent answer wrathpuppet!

People read the Bible to protect their own beliefs. The best way to protect yourself is to know your....well....rival for lack of a better word. Whenever Christian people try to convert or debase someone, they use the Bible. So the only way to fight back is to read the Bible, educate yourself, and prove them wrong. That said, nobody should be saying anything mean about anyone else's religion.

As "goatboy" and "student for life" have pointed out, the answer is simple. But just to give you a different angle on it, would you allow that it's OK for Buddhists to be on this section? Pagans, etc.? You must see the fallacy in wanting to exclude anyone who has a opinion on religion, pro or con, and every shade in between - unless of course you DO want to turn it into a Christian cheering department.

We read the Bible because (or at least for me) we like to learn about the beliefs of other cultures. "Know thy enemy" I have no idea who said that, and I don't consider Christians "enemies" but you should know what you're getting into when you challenge somebody or are challenged by somebody to a debate on Christianity. Besides, I believe in choosing your own religion for yourself, and if you never read anything about other religions, how are you going to know what you believe to be true and not?

And why can't we be in this section? Don't we need balance here? What would it be like if it was only Christians in here. "Here's my question...

Who here loves Jesus!"

"I do!"

"Amen!"

"Hallelujah!"

We need somebody in here to balance everything out, to give others a glimpse of other people's religions.

Stop thinking you're the only religion on the face of the planet, learn some humility, remember what happened with Lucifer and his pride? Remember Adam and Eve's pride? Pracitice what you preach, and please stop being so filled with self pride.
