First, snoring can be an indicator of a more serious medical problem. Although snoring may be harmless for most people, it can be a symptom of a life threatening sleep disorder called sleep apnea, especially if it is accompanied by severe daytime sleepiness. Sleep apnea is characterized by pauses in breathing that prevent air from flowing into or out of a sleeping person's airways. People with sleep apnea awaken frequently during the night gasping for breath. The breathing pauses reduce blood oxygen levels, can strain the heart and cardiovascular system, and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. Snoring on a frequent or regular basis has been directly associated with hypertension. Obesity and a large neck can contribute to sleep apnea. Sleep apnea can be treated; men and women who snore loudly, especially if pauses in the snoring are noted, should consult a physician."

However, for simple snoring, one quick and easy fix is to change sleeping position. Most snoring occurs when lying on the back, so have your spouse sleep on his or her side.

First of all, have him checked for Sleep Apnea. Lots of people have it and don't know it. Snoring is a big hint. Sleep Apnea is a disorder that leads to more life-threatening, long term illnesses that could be prevented with proper treatment of Sleep Apnea. This disorder is characterized by the person who stops breathing in their sleep. This robs their brain of the oxygen it needs. So they wake up, but are still tired, may nap a lot or fall asleep while watching TV, after lunch, at work and more dangerously, while driving (This happened to me several times before I realized there was something very wrong!) you can learn more about Sleep Apnea at dressupsbybrenda.net or just type in sleep apnea and you'll find a lot of answers to your question.

Try getting him/her those nasal strips advertised on TV.From what I have heard they work very well.If that doesn't work and it's really bad he/she may need to see a doctor. There may be some problem that can be treated by a doctor.Worse case scenario, until you can get some help, try getting to sleep before your partner. That's what I do,if not I spend half the night elbowing him and telling him to turn over.Laying on your back tends to make it worse.I've read where people have actually somehow put like a tennis ball on their back to prevent them from rolling over onto it.Good luck!!

my fiance snores and has all his life. he is stubborn and wont go see the doctor or wear nose strips...my solution? i just wear earplugs. i have some of the more high tech pair, not the kind you squeeze and they reflate. i am such a light sleeper, and that works for the snoring, and i can still hear my son when he wakes up in the next room...maybe it can work for you...

Don't. At least your mate is snoring in your bed and not someone else's.

buy some nose plugs
& then gently ask her to wear them
be prepared for an emotional arguement no matter what you do.

or... NO....WAIT!!!
... record her snoring FIRST so she cant blame you for it.
be sensitive.
PRACTICE it on your SISTER first in a ROLE-PLAYING SIMULATION till you get good at it...
get some advice about what im suggesting first...
but, try that?

...OOPS, are you a woman?
well, then, um... try it with your brother first?
