Sometimes geese can fly high enough to get about the rain clouds. Other birds seek shelter, generally in trees. Storms brings in low pressure, which makes flying harder to do. This makes them have a harder time staying in the air. Birds use thermal drafts to maintain their distance from the ground and this changes with the low pressure and the winds that the storm brings. Also, except for waterfowl, such as ducks and geese which have a protective coating on their feathers, rain makes the feathers get waterlogged. This adds weight to the birds, making it hard for them to stay in the air.

Yes - some more than others of course, though they tend not to during storms. Some birds, like cockatoo's, actually LOVE to fly around in the rain - especially if its a sun shower. Thats how they bathe - they have showers, and they actually do fly around until they are soaked. They go out, fly around until they are soaked, land, shake out their feathers then go out and get wet all over again!

Birds are unable to fly when their wings get wet, If it starts raining they may fly to get to a shelter but they will not be able to fly for long.

Depending on the strentgh, yes. But if the rain were like, that hard, the bird would have enough common sense to stay put in a tree,

It really depends on how hard its raining. A bit of rain will just roll off their bodies but a heavy storm will soak their feathers and weigh them down making it hard to stay off ground.

Yes, they can, but they would rather chose not to, because they will get wet, so they will go back to their nests, or find a branch under a thick tree, but they will not go out what so ever when the storm is heavy, because the wind can make them crash.

When they have to, they will, but usually they can sense when a storm is coming (almost all animals can do that, isn't it weird?) and get to shelter before the storm comes.

yes they do, although during heavy storms they tend to seek shelter...don't want to become a flying lightning rod!
