It is like she is falling on her knees.
She is 10 years old and over weight?

It is NOT normal for a Chihuahua to fall when she walks,
even at her age.
It sounds like she has weak knee joints (very common genetic
trait in the Chihuahua) and as she gets older and fatter it is just
putting too much pressure on the joints and they buckle under her.
The pain can be relieved with meds, but you will need to take her to the vet so he can give her the correct dose.
You may also have to limit her food intake.
I have some geriatric old girls also, they are food thiefs that I have to keep out of the food bowl.

There could be a few reasons for this...she may have arthritis or it could be as serious as a neurological disorder. The best thing to do is to take her to the vet and let him/her check her out real good. There may be a medication or something they can do to help her out!
Good luck and smooches to your chihuahua!

She might have weakness in her joints.

You can always set up an appointment with a veterinarian, to look further into possible reasons.
