unfortunately ,laptops are a bad purchase for anyone wanting to play games, infact i hate laptops, there overpriced and have rubbish components, unless you pay over £1500 for a top notch model
graphic card upgrades are not possible in laptops as most graphics in laptops are built into the unit, companys like nvidia make cards which are shipped to the manufacturers and put into the laptop at the factory
all i can suggest is that you download the latest drivers for your existing card and update your direct x files,by visiting http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.mspx,and see how you go,but if i were you ,i would try to sell your laptop(you can get good prices if you have a decent processor and adequate ram),and invest in a gaming tower,so you can upgrade your graphics whenever you want, but make sure you get a pci-express system as this is the latest graphics interface, with twice as much bandwith as the agp interface(agpx8,,,,,pci-express x16)
good luck

Theres no way your lap top will play the latest games, even with a new video card. The specs they print on the game box are the minimum needed to get the game to limp along. Plus you need a crt monitor, not an lcd, because of the refresh rate.
Spend about £2,500 on a dual chip desktop and then you'll be able to play games the way the developer intended. Otherwise stick to a console.
