Many companys think that to get your attention during a commercial break, they blast their commercials very loud over your television. When you are at home late at night and the rest of the family is in the bed, a commercial like that would be very rude. Therefore some TV makers now have an option that automatically adjusts the volume to keep it at a "civilized" level, so you dont have to worry about waking up your spouse or kids.

It is a feature that keeps the volume constant. Some shows are recorded louder then others and the volumes vary and stable sound adjusts for this automatically even with commercials.
