I recommend taking him to your vet. It could be a number of things. He could be allergic to something in your home or have an infection in his sinuses. Many things...The VET can help you Im sure.

A cat sneezing, can be caused by many underlying problems. The only way to know for sure, and give him the treatment needed to recover, is to set up an appointment with the local veterinarian.

He has an upper respitory infection common in cats . Take him to the vet ASAP. If he has been doing this for a year it will not clear up by itself. Check the symptoms on yahoo pets under cat diseases.

Can cats have an allergy? I honestly don't know but from your description (comes & goes, then returned) I would consider it. Have you changed anything. His shampoo, carpet, furniture, food, or anything else? Try going back to the prechange status and see if it helps.

I had gotten a dog from an animal shelter and she had started coughing a lot. We took her to the vet and it turned out that she had kennel cough. Let the vet check out your cat.
