Dosen't the claim to be an atheist infer personal omniscience? To say that you know there is no God would mean that you have been to the furthest realms of the universe and found it empty. To say you don't know whould mean that you either do not know or that you believe we have no way of knowing whether God exists and would more properly be called an agnostic, which sounds more honest to the capability of human inquiery. What evidence would cause you to re-examine your understanding of God's pursuit of you outside of how you see it worked out in the lives of others?

I'm not making a judgement here only trying to get a clarification of what others are stating about themselves by calling themself an atheist. Don't take it personal

Atheists are just free thinkers who do not choose to believe in the specific constraints of organized religion. Many are open to the idea that a god like creature or creatures could possibly exist. They just find it very hard to believe that (for example) the Biblical description of the universe makes any sense.

good question.. that's the reason i'm an agnostic, not atheist

it's not so much a claim of personal omnisience than a claim of the right of self-management

atheisme is a claim that there is no god. period.

mostly because the idea of god presented by religions are too ridiculous, grafted / installed with so many human trait and fanciful romantic interpretation - human made concepts can be rejected by other human

not because they know for a fact there is no god, but the assumption that whatever he is, he is not going to interfere in their lives

very much the way you'd dismiss the news that a meteor will hit earth 5000 years from now, it's inconsequential to the average person but will probably change the way people think and grow in the long run - very similar with how the concept of god has affected humans throughout history

you can't live your life in fear / under control of the meteor everyday, nor should you. i think humans has the capability to grow out of it.

what evidence will cause me to re-examine my understanding?
every evidence i've come acroos made me re-examine, unfortunately the evidences are rarely concrete and irrefutable enough

i think it'd be much better for this planet if god will just do a world tour like madonna does, because nothing less will be conclusive

Do you've self assurance in the the teeth fairy? No? nicely Atheism is a twin of that! i'm somewhat busy now yet i receives decrease back to you later. Later: easily, many others have suggested it o.k.! to positioned it only, you want info with the intention to trust in something. How else are you able to confirm what's real and what's not any longer? even if it really is effective to trust without info, then all Gods are both real, a twin of the the teeth fairy, and there is not any thanks to inform them aside. yet maximum Gods say that each and each another Gods are faux. So how do you tell that's the real one? you want some info! yet there is not any info of any of the Gods so Atheists trust that none of them are real. So there is your answer. Atheists favor info. we can by no skill lose interest of repeating this! Please do not imagine that we are adverse to faith. maximum religious anybody is sweet people, as are maximum Atheists. We would disagree about what's going to ensue after lack of existence yet (maximum folk) are on an same section at the same time as it contains the themes of this existence! it really is in uncomplicated phrases at the same time as religions reason complications in the international that Atheists have a difficulty with them!

You are correct. Atheists are really agnostics since they can't prove the inexistence of any god. But you see agnostics are people who don't make up their minds. They are not willing to complete discard religion. That's why there's atheism. We are the ones who are firm and confident of our beliefs. I don't see how personal omniscience has anything to do with an atheist though but we are striving to explore the worlds beyond our own and maybe someday we'll find some answers but until then, us atheists will stand firm in our quest to purge humanity of all religious-related hate, turmoil, bigotry, conflicts, murder, etc that has haunted us since the beginning.

Atheism is a statement of fact, to wit:

Supernatural entities ("Gods") do not exist in fact.

Atheism does not claim that there is no possibility whatsoever supernatural entities cannot exist, it merely states they do not exist in fact.

"In fact" is generally implied when existence is claimed, but due to the gross misrepresentations of atheism, it is necessary to include it in the statement "God does not exist (in fact)" to clearly define the meaning.

"In fact" means it is objectively verifiable by credible evidence. Faith and belief are not evidence of anything other than faith and belief.

An agnostic is a dishonest person who claims he doesn't know what he believes. A person either believes supernatural entities exist or he does not.

There is no "maybe" when it comes to beliefs about supernatural entities.

"To say that you know there is no God..."

Never heard an atheist say that.

"...would more properly be called an agnostic,"

Maybe, but an atheist can be defined as a "lack of belief" in God, so many agnostics could also be called atheists.

That said, how do you know there is a God despite the lack of evidence?

I am interstellar dust and therefore I have been to the furthest reaches of this universe . I am at the origin of things therefore i am a god therefore i am omniscient .
how do you prove that something doesn't exist?you can't ,
you can only prove that something does not exist any more so therefore you must first prove that something exists or has existed.
good luck proving a non existing "something"

Why do you judge us for not being able to prove that their is no god, when you think you know god does exist. You have not had the chance to know for sure anyway. So we should only have agnostics.

atheist: have proof or proofs that god doesn't exist.
they haven't been to the furthest parts of the universe from earth.
their view is ethnocentristic.
agnostics: don't know if god exists. all atheists are really agnostics.

some believe in the tooth fairy - does he actually exist? to some yes. Faith in yourself and what you know to be fact is what you believe. Athiests dont believe in God but it might just be that they dont believe the hype about God. Everyone's god is different even if the attend the same temple.
