It's not the exact number that's important. And immigration has always fueled the growth of this country.
The problem is the quality of the people. Because we have an utterly failing education system, and parenting skills are a thing of the past, many adults being churned out today are all but worthless. They can't communicate effectively, they know nothing of the history of this country or the world, they don't believe in hard work, and they've been instilled with a feeling of entitlement.

It seems no one cares about the states and what effect overpopulation cause. Wait and hear them cry in a few years. Other countries did have to face it--and overcrowding does hurt.
And the Midwest has its problems too-post ahead of me. Look beyond your own backyard.
