That's the problem.
Were all moaning about 'illegal' immigration and somehow the attackers on 9/11 all came here legally. Someone isn't doing their job.
Its not illegal immigration that's the problem its legal! Terrorist have $$ and they are well financed. They can get into this country easily.
Then it becomes a question of racial profiling.....I don't get it, we can't have it both ways and have a safe America!

We don't. This is what are intelligence agencies are for. They have to identify terrorists before they even try to get into this country. And we're not all that good at this yet. There are terrorists in this country. It's just a matter of whether or not we can identify and catch them before they attack.

How do we know anything about anyone? How do we know our neighbors aren't terrorists? Or you or I?
It's a shot in the dark really!
I'd be more afraid of someone from my own country than anywhere, considering the fact that people are kidnapped, hurt terribly, or worse, hundreds of times a day, by people who were born and raised in there own country.
It's really sad when you think about it.
Who CAN you trust?

Particular countries and particular subjects are on a watch list. e.g If you're from Iran and want to study biochemistry, you are obliged to report to the local police and inform them of any changes in circumstnces. The rest is hope.

We don't, and I certainly do not trust some pencil pushing government administrator to have a clue or care if whether they are terrorists. Our system is so porous, it is almost depressing.

they have paperwork, we do a backround check, and we have faith....
