He is approx. 15 yrs. old and is really losing a lot of weight...he meows to be fed all the time but when fed he acts as if he doesn't want what's served. I have changed the varieties and brands, he tires of them quickly. He will, however eat human food, such as chicken, steak, etc. most any meat. AND, he does throw up at least twice a week....What gives???? I don't think he has worms, don't see any in his stool. Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks.

Seven,.... i'm sorry to say that u'r cat seems to be up his/her later years now. Loss of weight, loss of appetite, vomiting, are some of the signs that cats can have for kidney failure. Taking u'r cat to the vet and letting him/her do bloodwork (SMAC should be around 30$) on u'r cat would be a great idea. The bloodwork will show red, white blood level counts, sugars, blood in urine, kidney levels, all kinds of things. So if its not one.... it will lead vets to another. I recommend u stop switching foods on him. Some foods are way too harsh on him at the moment. He needs something more easy on his stomach. (GERBERS 2nd Foods- Chicken and Gravy only!) Its what we give to our sick pets in my clinic. If vomiting persists,.. u'r cat may be dehydrated. Loss of fluids will serverly damage u'r cats organs. U'r vet may need to put him on fluids. This will help his kidneys not have to work overtime so much to filter out any impurities u'r cat needs to rid himself of. If u'r cat is stable and is sent home,..... they may send u home with K/d. Its science diet food prescription diet to help u'r cats kidneys. Maybe feed some Gerber food as well. As far as worms,........ is u'r cat having diarrhea? if not....... (unless the vet says to) dont worry about it. U cant see most worms anywayz. We take a fecal sample and look at it under a microscope. We look for microscopic eggs. U can take u'r cats stool sample, place it in a ziplock baggy, and take it with u to u'r vet. It doesn't matter if it has grass or cat litter in it. If u see any worms,.... they would most likey be white little worms that look like rice sometimes. I'm pretty sure those arent the villans. Those can come from fleas and are more of a nucience than a problem. Easy to get rid of. Take u'r kitty to the vet. And make u'r decision of what to do to your kitty to help him in his quality of life. Do u want him to suffer and or will treatment serve him better in the long run?

Your cat sounds like he might be sick. And he's old enough that a number of things could be going wrong. Take him to the vet. And don't give him any more people food unless it really is absolutely the only thing he will eat: People food tends to have way too much salt for a cat's system- though if you bake the chicken without seasoning that might be all right.

Good luck!

Go to the the common elderly cat diseases are:
hyperthyroidism, chronic renal disease, or lymphoma (amongst other diseases). Let the vet run any diagnostic test she/he needs to in order to get to the problem. Most diseases can be treated - but not cured. At 15 your cat is a geriatric cat. But that doesn't mean that you should ignore medical attention. You can easily have another few years if treatment begins sooner rather than later.

Hyperthyriodism, cancer, kidney disease, diabetes mellitus.
these are just a few diseases and conditions that could be happening. If the cat means that much to you, take him to a veterinarian immediately for an exam and diagnostics such as bloodwork and checking the urine.

He is getting old. Times 12 by 15 years = 180 real-cat-time years. catman is OLD. Cut him some slack. And I wouldn't eat catfood either --- nasty! Cat's just smart.

I really think you should take your cat to see a vet. Or maybe it's vegetarian cat?

that is exactly what my cat did, it turned out that he had a dental/gum infection which made it painful to eat hard cat food, try looking at his gums and see if they are pale, or look like they are red and irritated.
