I would think the bigger concern would be 'triggering' an episode that would bring out or increase the effects PTSD .. I know of nobody that would say it was a fun experience or that they would willingly want to re-live all the trauma and madness of it.. so many people were so badly screwed up by the experience.. why take the risk of rubbing salt in some wounds that may never heal?
I have 2 uncles that were negatively affected for life, one recently commited suicide by jumping on train tracks.. and one had nightmares that haunted him for life.. the things he did while he was there and the guilt that came from it all.. no doubt the internalized stress of it all led to an untimely death.

Not sure exactly what you are referring to in terms of hypnosis being used for prosteletizing, but hypnosis is STILL used as an ethical valid psychological treatment. However, if people are abusing it, that's another issue. Hypnosis is different than what most people think. It has nothing to do with mind control. People in a hypnotic state are completely awake and able to control themselves, the hypnotizer has no power over them. just helps them to relax in order to process events that are nerve wracking for them (as is common with people with PTSD)

Hypnosis, in the hands of a skilled practitioner is probably the most effective way to treat PTSD.
A clinical environment is more than ethical.

PTSD's rather biofeedback and guided imagery over hypnosis. Self relaxation techniques. GSR biofeedback. Check out resources at :

It's been proven that a person cannot by hypnotized unless they are truly receptive to the process, so yes, I believe it's ethical.
