The longest I've ever known a hangover to last was one week, on the fifth day of which I was peeing peppermint schnapps. Before you get the wrong impression, I'm 44 and I've only been drunk 5 times.

The root cause of a hangover is a combination of 2 factors. 1 is dehydration, which may be avoided by drinking a glass of water for every alcoholic drink consumed. Note that if you do not start with a glass of water before you start drinking, you will probably forget. 2 is congestants found in the alcohol. Vodka, having practically none, is less likely to cause a hangover, and high congestant drinks include rum, tequilla and beer. Once again, consuming water tends to dilute and flush congestants, decreaseing your chance of hangover. And never underestimate the value of taking a vitamin pill first. The majority of problems caused by alcohol, including lack of muscle coordination, agressiveness in some people, and hangovers, are related to the fact that the liver has to convert the alcohol into aldehydes, including formaldehyde, in the process of breaking it down into sugar.

It can last two days, the first day being the worst. Of course, the root of the hangover is the alcohol. If you drink water between drinks you will get less of a hangover. You are dehydrated and loaded with toxins. Think of alcohol as poison. They have a product called "hang X" that you take between drinks and it is supposed to not cause a hangover the next day.
I went to AA in March 2003 because I was at a point where I didn't even get hangovers anymore. My body was just so used to the alcohol. Be careful not to become an alcoholic. It sneaks up on you. Good luck and try some alka-seltzer.

Hangovers are caused by dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids the next morning ( I find milk works best ). The length of a hangover depends on what you drank , how much and whether you mixed your drinks. The worst case senario is usually a couple of days.

Hangovers are primarily a result of dehydration. Alcohol is a diuretic, so if you aren't drinking a lot of water in between drinks, you'll have a worse hangover.

A hangover is caused by the fact that your brain is dehydrated. When I've had enough to drink, I start drinking water (no matter what anybody says about it making you drunker) and I've only had a hangover when I didn't drink water.

Caused by alcohol which is not meant to be drank in large quanties. Hangovers are your bodie's way to tell you how stupid you are. Depends on your system how long they last. I had one that lasted 16 years. Of course I am an alcoholic.

Alcohol causes dehydration and toxins or impurities in the alcohol contribute to the hang over. Try a hair of the dog that bit you. When you get older it starts taking longer to get over a good time than it does to have one.
