Some people keep serving the same meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner, others don't let their children leave the table. My children are picky eaters as well. Especially my three year old son. I try to ask them what they would like to eat, I also make sure they get nutrition from other sources, juice, milk and vitamins. I also would start with one piece of vegetable at a time. For instance one piece of broccoli. Neither one of my kids used to eat their veggies at all. My daughter is now up to 4-5 pieces at a time. I think its important to let them go at their own pace. I also explain to them all the time how important it is to eat good foods, that will help them stay healthy and grow. I tell them some people go to bed hungry every night. I also explain if they go too long without eating that they will have to go to the hospital and be fed through a tube.

I'm not trying to be rude, just frank. Unless you want to be a short order cook for your child(ren) until they move out, cook dinner for your family and they will eat it or they will do without. Make mac & cheese once in a while. It's okay. If you have more than one child, let each of them pick the meal one night a week and let them help you cook it. Then you fix your favorite meal one night. How about trying one new recipe each week? You get the idea. The child will learn that they will get their turn and in the meantime maybe they'll find a few new foods that they didn't know they liked.

I seriously doubt he will let himself starve.
Is this how he gets attention from you?
Put the food on the table. If he eats, fine. If he doesn't, he gets offered nothing except water til the next meal.
Don't bribe, plead, beg, punish, etc.
He just wants to be in control.
Do not make mac n cheese for every meal. Once in awhile, like any other food.
You and hubby could always say 'We're going out to eat at a nice restaurant. You could come, but I know you don't want to try chicken, beef, etc. so I got you a sitter instead.' Maybe he'll come to his senses.

Giving in to him, by feeding him mac & cheese constantly is not working, since he doesn't always eat it anyway.
You might as well make what YOU want to make.

OK, so he'll go days without eating. Don't worry about it!
He WILL eventually start eating again, and he will eat whatever you give him.

Be strong. Nothing bad will happen if he doesn't eat a few meals. He will make it up later.

Talk to your ped. It might just be a phase. There are 2 ways to go. You can either let him only have the mac and cheese or you can make one meal and tell him that he'll have nothing else until he eats that. It all depends on whether or not you want to fight him on it. Have you tried involving him in the kitchen? Maybe if he helps you cook then he'll be interested in eating more things.

When my oldest was extremely picky about what he ate and we were at our wits end so I started having him help me cook. I was amazed what he would eat if he was allowed to help me pick things out at the grocery store, and then help me prepare it. We made it a rule that we had to have three things for dinner and he helped me with everything from washing and peeling, (with a plastic knife), veggies to measuring everything. He learned to set the microwave. We also explained to him the science of cooking and that really got him interested. How things rise, what chemical changes take place with cooking, etc... My boys are now 23, 20 and 15 and are all really good cooks that love new things. Good Luck.

Kids at this age are very picky. Whatever you do, do NOT let him starve because then you will be dealing with Child Protective Services and that is not cool. Explain to him why it is important to eat to stay healthy. He will come around eventually. Hang in there.

Hope this helps

tell him if he eats something else you'll give him ice cream or take him to chuckie cheese. tell him your out of mac and cheese. take him to the zoo and buy him a hot dog. if he doesn't eat it tell him he's not going back. try and associate eating different foods with things that are fun. if you punish him he'll hate everything including you. and if all that doesn't work than just stuff a sandwich down his throat!

Be a real parent and discipline that brat. Geez, he'll eat whatever you tell him to eat, if you're a good parent. Stop making him mac and cheese. Try other recipes.
