join a local running or triathlon club.
how to find one?
go to a running or triathlon oriented store...preferably a locally owned one rather than a chain or franchise.
runners/triathletes are ALWAYS looking for company!

I know there are several good running sites on the web, but I can't think of them now.
Good idea to find a partner, though.
Suggestions: Find a local running store, check at the YWCA or YMCA, check the Boys & Girls Clubs.
After you find a partner be sure to tell your family your running route, partner's name and address, and expected time to return.

Try Craigslist.org. It has pretty much everything. Go to your area and get crazy :)
