Because there are certain individuals who are not content or don't agree with certain doctrines in their church and they decide to make their own organization, sect, religion or whatever. If you compare Catholicism, Evangelism, Pentecostalism, Protestant, Mormons, Islam the differences are in certain doctrines. (different views in diet, the way they dress, trinity, holy spirit, Mary, Jesus, God).

Christianity came from Judaism. All these religions where derived from another one, and all the principles of these religions came from Judaism, the oldest religion of all.

I would say that it is due to sin, both in terms of people who think their ideas are superior to someone else's, and in terms of people who do not bear witness to the Gospel and scandalize others into leaving.

It is not true that Christianity is the only religion with many types. Islam has many types, as do other religions.

The Catholic Church became very corrupt many centuries ago, and during this time period, one man, Martin Luther, decided to confront these corruptions. The Catholic Church still had many corrupt leaders, though, and so instead of responding to the problems that Martin Luther questioned, the Church reacted and pushed him away. I believe they excommunicated him. Anyways, Martin Luther began his own religion, Protestant Christianity, and from there on other people took on the idea of creating their own version of Christianity. Thus is divided.

It is found in EVERY religion. What makes you think that it is not?

Each time a group of people reached beyond the current method/doctrine to find something new/different about the God they worshiped, they stopped searching and founded a new denomination. The error is that when they find something new, they assume there is no more to find.

Each religion limits God to it's understanding of who and what God is. Limiting God is not wise. Believing God is limited to your understanding is downright stupid. No matter who you are.

There were very different views of Jesus in the various types of Christianity.... Perhaps the starkest contrast was among those who considered themselves as gnostic Christians, and those who considered themselves Christians in the old Pauline view of things. On the one hand, Paul, and Pauline Christianity, would have placed all of the emphasis on Jesus' death and resurrection, and the saving power of that death and resurrection. Gnostic Christianity, on the other hand, would have placed its prime emphasis on the message, the wisdom, the knowledge, the gnosis, that's where the word gnostic comes from, the Greek word for knowledge, the knowledge that Jesus transmits, and even the secret knowledge that Jesus transmits. So one would have on the one hand faith in the saving event of Jesus' life and death, and on the other hand knowledge as the great source of adherence to the Jesus movement on the other hand.

Because the people have the example of Luther and the experience of leaving Europe and forming new communities. Another need for the book "Sects in America".

((Aside to other answer, Judaism is not the oldest by a long scratch))

Because there are so many different kinds of people, with too many kinds of different opinions.

People have to "form" their religions to help them either-conform to their religions easier-or-to help them understand and apply that form of Christianity to their own lives.

Obviously, you don't know very much about other religions. There are many sects of Muslims..sunnis, shi-ites, etc. Jews also have different sects.
Next time, do the research.

there are so many types of christianity, as there are so many different religions in general, because man likes to think for himself and find his own way of worhip and connecting with divnity. we form different groups to suit ourselves and those like ourselves, so we have something to hold onto if something else we tried did not pull through for us, and so we have a way to break from corruption in the system.

...Just like there are different types of music, and different people have certain favorites...

I don't really think it was God's intention for there to be so much division --- However, to put it in perspective: THey do serve a purpose.

I should add "caution" as well...because among the different 'denominations of Christians' there also includes "False Teachers"
