Jesus never mentions homosexuality but spoke against divorce.

Why are some Christians so aggressively against gays, but not those who divorce? (I am a Christian who belives we should show love toward both)

It has been demonstrated in Yahoo! Answers many times. This answer is pretty simple.

The only verses in the Bible that are not mistranslated or require a magic decoding device to understand are the ones AGAINST homosexuality.

All the rest got messed up over the years. If it doesn't make sense or goes against your own lifestyle, it means something else. If you use the magic decoder on the ones that don't make sense, you find out that all those really mean gay is bad, too.

You know the answer, hunny. You see hypocrites of one form or another around you on a daily basis. According to the Bible, hypocrites will burn in hell just as sure as the sexually perverted. It's always God's perfect word of god until it says something they don't agree with... then the justification begins. It's always God's perfect word when pointing out what is wrong with other people... but means something else when confronted with their own shortcomings.

homosexuality will ALWAYS be a controversial subject among Christians. It doesn't matter, though. Anybody who wants to believe that homosexuality is a sin should believe that. To go against your beliefs would be wrong.

If you think homosexuality is wrong... don't do homosexual things.

But DON'T tell me we aren't equal.

I've never met anybody who follows their holy book completely. No matter what the faith, there are always things that just don't work with our time.

Jesus condemned hypocrisy FAR more often than he condemned ANY/ALL sexual behavior. Hypocrisy was actually one of the major themes of his recorded ministry.

It's ok if you want to pick and choose what parts of your Holy book apply to us in our current day and age, but when other people pick and choose differently, you should not condemn them. That is a classic demonstration of hypocrisy.

Christians are not OK with either one. Both can be forgiven if the people repent, but neither is OK. Divorce was also approved by Jesus in cases of adultery.
You are just trying to push a gay agenda and neither of these are approved in any Christian church. Here Jesus reminded us of what happened to Sodom and the sodomite people. Jesus in no way approved of homosexuality or the sodomite lifestyle that is called gay today.. Nothing gay about it..very sad..

Luk 17:29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
Luk 17:30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
Luk 17:31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.
Luk 17:32 Remember Lot's wife.
Luk 17:33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

When Jesus spoke of divorce, you're right, He did make it plain that God is against it. BUT, he did include the adultery exclusion. I think He knew that once hearts get that broken, it may take more grace to forget than humanly possible.

I believe He didn't mention homosexuality because there was no questions or discussion from ANYONE about whether or not that was ok.

Because they read one minuscule passage in the Bible, that refers to sodomy, and took it to mean that god was telling them that gays are bad. It's like the telephone game, somebody reads something, then tells somebody his/her version of what they read, who tells another version to someone else....etc. Coupled with the fact that homosexuality seems to be an unnatural act (to them) and was once refered to as a diesase, or mental dysfunction..It fueled the fires...Whereas it made sense that a woman who was being beaten, or a man whose wife slept around should be granted the right to divorce and move on to better mates. This belief has circulated for so long, that now they are unable to think otherwise. They remember that passage about sodomy, but forget the one about loving thy neighbor. Divorce was not always acceptable, and in some parts of Catholicism it is still considered a huge no-no. Many people consider the allocation for divorce a lackadaisical means to keep people in the faith..Who might have left otherwise if denied their wish (or need) to divorce.

Being gay is against basic compatibility design of a male and a female.

Divorce happens when there is incompatibility in other areas. Adultery, grave differences of religion and death and even minor issues can separate a husband and a wife. The last one is not a valid reason. The reason must be valid.

One of God's perfect plans are for men to be with women. (thats how we can be fruitful and multiply). Love is a big part of life. But people think that getting love from another person makes you some how complete. But love from God makes you complete. We are christians but we are humans and humans have issues with love. You ever seen a person that has so much to give but get hooked up with the wrong guy or gal and it destroys them. Or you ever saw someone that needed a guy or gal to validate them. Well, humans don't think that love can be a weapon of the devil. Divorce comes from not completely depending on God. Ya see we mess up when we put self in things. Things happen when we choose and don't let God choose.

I'm a christian, I'm not anti gay, I don't believe in gay marriage though, and I have much sympathy for gay people, I don't like divorce, to many people get hurt especially children, though this may not sound christian I do think maybe people should live together first before marriage, it may solve alot of problems before they happen.

I'm always amazed that Jesus said he did not come to destroy the law but to fulfill it. Jesus also obeyed every covenant between God and Man, such as dietary laws, circumcision, etc.

Yet it is not until Paul comes along that every single covenant that is to be eternal and unbroken between God and Man is eliminated completely.

Sometimes I think Pauline Christians are condemned to Hell for breaking every rule God had ever commanded. It has only been recently that Pauline Christians have eliminated their fanatic hold on slavery (God commanded freedom for slaves after 7 years) as an eternal bond between master and slave.

A) Don't talk about the bible if you don't know what you're saying. Homosexuality is indeed very much against the Bible, the Catholic Church, etc. Don't use fake facts to make your point.

B) Because it's easier for people to throw stones at houses that they don't / won't ever live in. People are inherently hypocritical like that. Sucks, don't it?

(add on to the question) ... and ok with killing, and cheating on their wives, and doing all sorts of other terrible stuff?

However, Jesus doesn't have to mention all the things you shouldn't do if he says what you should do. Technically, religious marriage is between a man and woman. I think gays should just create their own culture and terms, which should be equal to the religious ones, especially since the US has to separate church and state.
