There's obviously nothing there -- she looks back and forth at the ceiling and it freaks us out!

A cats eye sight for movement and its hearing for tiny sounds is un-real. A cat can hear 1 bug behind a wall even.
It could be as small as a fruit fly in a dark room but the cat will see it.
Just smile and know you have a living bug zapper in your home.

I have a small poodle dog that does the same thing, I think she feels the air from the ceiling fan and trys to find it.

Cats see what humans can't. It could simply be a small spider, fly or insect of some sorts or "it" could be something other than something corporeal. Like I said. Cats see what we can't and I think they often protect us from some of the squickier unseen things.

my cat does that too they both see little bugs and they try to get them and they when the are on the ceiling thhey will make this weird noise its funny well yea,its bugs

Mine does the same. Especially at nite. She is seeing reflections of lights coming in the window. It is freaky.

Ha ha. Our beautiful belgian shepherd dog sometimes stares at our shiny electric fire (which is never on as it is summertime). We it his own personal TV which always shows the same dull program.

they have a better sense of their surrounding plus their sight is way better, sorry mere mortal perhaps kitty sees something you cant. plus kitty might be just nuts and follows shadows all day. lol

probably a small bug or a shadow you don't notice... but other people say that cats can see spirits.

She probably sees a very small bug, which you cannot see.
