The typical range of responses is between 100 and 5,800 with an average of 600-800. There is no official number, as everyone's saliva and licking method is different.
According to Tootsie Roll Industries, there have been several scientific or pseudo-scientific studies attempting to answer the "How Many Licks?" question, including the creation and testing of two unique "licking machines" by engineering students at Purdue University and the University of Michigan.

i once had to suck and lick that pop for an hour and only got it half way eatin...i then finished it off 46mins later and the last bit is the hardest part because you are so tempted in crunching down on it...lay the stick on your tounge and let the last bit melt with the heat from you mouth..it will take about 7 to mins for that part...so 1 hour to get half way through...45mins for the other half ...and 7 to 10 mins for the last little part. if you want to get through it faster, drink a hot beverage to help with the melting process.. i hope this helps and im sad to say i know the answer this one.. but it was fun......
