New Balance- I have used them for years and they are excellent.

My son and I both run. After spending years on my feet (I work in the medical field), I always thought New Balance would be best, but when running I always suffered different pains in my feet and ankles. My son, bought a pair of Nike Shocks to help with his running game, and not only did his joints stop hurting, but he shaved over 2 minutes off of his running time because he could run without the pain. Soooooo, needless to say, I went and bought a pair too, and I am here to tell you, they are ten times better than New Balance. I LOVE MY NIKE SHOCKS!! Especially if you can find the ones that have the shocks from the front to the back. Most only have the shocks in the back.

Hands down, the best running shoe I have ever had on my feet are the Nike Shox. This being said, I used to be anti-Nike because i'd get a pair of their shoes and they would break with the sole falling off and alll that within like 3 months. I splurged about 5 months ago and got a pair of Nike Shox. They killed my feet for like a week (my feet are tough... no arch at all, and they kinda fit funny in shoes), but after they were broken in, I never felt like taking them off... to me they are more comfortable than walking around the house even in bare feet. I would not wear any other type of shoe at this point, "period"
Happy Running!!

I have narrow feet, so I cannot recommend Asics..which tend to run a little wide. A great shoe though.
I wear Mizuno. They come in some narrow widths...and to me feel as light as a racing flat but have excellent support and durability. I am a neutral runner, but need decent support because of past achilles/plantars faciitis issues. I change them out every 400 or so miles and end up getting 2 or 3 pairs a year. I love the shoe, and they average around $80.
I used to wear Nike but changed after they changed my favorite model.

Any of the big companies would be fine. Nike, Adidas, New Balance, etc. As long as they have a research department they will make good shoes. Just pick a shoe that fits. All companies have slightly different lasts.

There is no best one, though the Navy uses New Balance, and I know several podiatrists that recommend New Balance.
It depends on your foot-- different companies have different shoe types, for people who pronate or whatever.
I like Ryka, they are made for women, not just a minor change from the men's styles.

As far as running shoes, I like Nike as far as spikes and warm up shoes. But for distance, Asics and New Balance are pretty decent too. Depends on what kind of sport your looking into.

I like Nike myself, but everyone's foot is different, so it's hard to tell. What might be right for me may not be right for someone else. I used to give recommendations to people for shoes, and then I found out that fact: what's right for me may not be right for you. You need to try all kinds to see which fits you the best.

The Brooks Adrenaline. Most people are overpronators and this shoe fits most people's feet well. It is the best selling running shoe in the country. I fit around 60% of my customers in this shoe.
