As an East Coast progressive and an athiest who thinks religious people are a bunch of yahoos ( no pun intended) any advice for this soon to be Texas transplant? Thanks, james

With that attitude, you'd better pack a bullet-proof vest.

People in East Texas will tolerate almost any religious (or anti-religious) belief, but they don't take kindly to insults to their faith. Disagree all you want, but do it respectfully. That is my advice, and for your sake, I hope you take it.

Be prepared for Baptists, Evangiclicals, J.W.'s and any other brand of door knockers will be in your area often. Let's see that part of Texas is very conservative and religious. Billboards about God on every corner. In The Woodlands area there are probly 200+ churches. Houston has a lot of them as well.

Texas is great, good shows at he woodlands if your into live music. The houston club scene is great. The food is great. The strip clubs are great. But its a hot mofo most of the year. bring shorts

You won't be completly alone but your opinions will be in the minority in the Woodlands, try to get closer into metropolitan Houston,( the Heights, Montrose area,)
