From the moment this book and movie came out, the author made sure to tell everyone it is fiction. Why in the world would Jesus Christ hide the fact that he married? Marriage in most religions is a sacrament, not something to be ashamed of! If the Gospels tell us about Jesus' miracles, when he was thirsty, when he preached, when he went to the Temple, would they commit the "oversight" of mentioning that He also got married?
It would be one of the biggest slurs on marriage that ever came out - and from Jesus Christ Himself, the man of truth.
No, God blessed and blesses marriage. Jesus chose to live as He did - many of us consecrated to God do the same. It's a different way of living out love. There aren't 'codes' and 'secrets' with God - He is light and truth and love. Everything is out in the open and He offers His love and goodness to all. It's a movie!

The DaVinci Code movie did not challenge my faith.
The movie entertained me for part of an afternoon-the book kept me interested until the last page.
It was not the worst of stories, nor was it the best of stories, but it certainly showed the writer had skill enough to entertain.

I particularly enjoyed the art aspect.

Maybe Myth Busters has an interesting take on the theories presented.

Faith is comprised of the fabric of our character, courage, stamina, dedication to TRUTH, convictions and other vital ingredients. If our faith is based on idols of any type, it will crumble. Shallow faith might be shaken by the DaVinci movie...and that is a good thing...the foundation of your faith is critical in holding up under the onslaught of new information and novel ideas!

Blessings!

Nope. It wasn't even a particularly good murder mystery. As for challenging MY faith; luv, it couldn't have challenged me to tiddlywinks.

After all, I AM a degreed theologian, Comparative and Dogmatic. That pathetic pastiche of medieval marketing ploy and modern media hype is a sad piece of work on both the spiritual and the literary levels. If Truth were a novel, this wouldn't be it. Sorry, but Harry Potter is more believable. Not to mention lots more fun!

No the book didn't either (didn't bother with the movie the book was boring enough). Too many twists on history to make it believeable and the false marketing heck the out roar against the movie probably helped it more. Clever fiction that attacked my faith or religious beliefs but didn't shake nor make me question them I did that on my own years ago and have a comfortable understanding no one else can shake.

Unlike almost everyone here, I admit that Da Vinci Code(mostly book), made me think. It made me want to know more. So I researched, found different theories and viewpoints.
Whether or not the book was incorrect in its historical facts, doesn't matter.
It was well written.
It was interesting
It was thought provoking.
That's all that matters.

The movie(though mostly the book) opened my eyes to the fact that the faith I had been living in (what I'd thought was spiritual Atheism) was in fact thousands of years old and called Paganism. I am deeply grateful to the book for opening people's eyes in many senses. Myself to the beauty of nature and this universe. And to blindsighted christians, helping them to see how severely their religion changes in terms of it being a passing fad, rather than any type of belief system.

I've read the book, but not seen the movie. I thought it was very entertaining, but did not take anything literally. However, there is nothing wrong with questioning and forming your own opinion.

Chacalaka, Iiked your answer. When you read it, you questioned and researched for yourself. If anything, those who were not interested in religion before gained interest. What more can you ask for from a book/movie like this.

Not at all. No more than a story about aliens coming to Earth would as it is nothing but fiction. As stated by the author of the book and movie, it is a work of fiction, not true, no fact.

Certainly not. The book, of course, has been around for some years now.

Did you read "Gemini Contenders" by Robert Ludlum? Similar FICTIONAL material that some might use to discredit the authenticity of Jesus Christ. But then, Ludlum did NOT claim that his book was historically correct.

God bless!!
