You really need to see a dentist. Abscessed teeth are nothing to mess with you could get really sick. You could try going to a dental school or in some areas there are dental clinics funded by the government that will treat emergencies and the charge is minimal, usually based on your income. Look at it this way get the tooth taken care of before the infection gets so bad that you end up in the hospital, now that is going to cost some money.

Abcessed teeth are really difficult to deal with. I know...I had so many that I can't count them anymore (I couldn't afford a doctor either).
If the gum around the broken tooth is swollen from the infection find something to actually pierce the gum. This will hurt like h*ll but it will give the infection somewhere to get out of your gum. Once you have done this and have gotten out what you can (by pressing around the swollen area and sucking on it and spitting it out) rinse your mouth with either warm saltwater (simple table salt dissolved in warm water) or hydrogen peroxide. You can also make a past of peroxide and baking soda (Arm & Hammer) and put it on the opening you made for 10 minutes. DO NOT SWALLOW THIS PASTE...it could cause you to become sick and vomit.
The piece of tooth still in your gum may have a sharp edge on it and will cause some discomfort if not pain to your tongue and cheek. If so use a fingernail file to file down the sharp edge and rinse the tooth 'dust' out of your mouth. It won't hurt to do this once the infection isn't so bad. I've done it before when my teeth would break.
You can contact me if you need more info as I went through many years of breaking teeth due to drug abuse. I now have only 6 teeth left in my mouth and am only 34.
Take care.

You must get medical treatment!I had a bike acciddent (a really bad one) and I broke four teeth (I was 11 years old then, I am 12 now). My brother called my mom and she immediately took me to the ER cause I had hit the rode with my teeth and the germs in the rode were in them. So then after the I went to the ER (for other stuff, concusion... scars... my sprained leg... exc.) I went to the dentist and got help on my teeth. The number one first thing they did was cleaned y teeth from all the infections and they put on a celent then I came back two weeks later and they put filling on all four teeth. Now you cannot even tellthey were ever broken unless you stood right next to me. So if I did not get them cleaned then nothing would have turned out so good. YOU HAVE TO GET MEDICAL HELP!!!

Please try social services as this could develop into a more complicated and painful situation! Honestly, I'm not trying to frighten you but you need an antibiotic to kill the infection b/4 it worsens & that small pc of tooth left can cause unbelieveable pain. If Social Services won't help (but I bet they do) then see if you might have a HEALTHSERVE in your area & you qualify w/or w/o money. God bless & hope you get help soon but don't dare give up trying because no matter the situation HELP is always around the corner when you least expect it!! Get help, get well & God bless you & yours!! Thank you!!

You need to go to the dentist. My dentist told me about a payment/credit plan called Care Credit. Their interest rates are rather high, but it would offer you a payment plan so you wouldn't have to pay it all up front. You may find you have to go to the ER. They should have a dental room and dentists on call. You're going to need to have the rest of the tooth removed, but will need a course of antibiotics first. God bless!

You MUST see a dentist and get that taken care of or you could get a severe infection in your mouth. If you have a dentistry school nearby, they often will help you at greatly reduced rates. For pain, you can pack the area with cloves and take ibuprofen or Aspirin.

You have to go see someone. Go on a payment plan if you have to. An abscess tooth can be very dangerous.

You definitely should have, already, seen a dentist. Especially if it was an absessed tooth! This means infection. Please do yourself a favor and avoid any further pain and discomfort and get your hiney to a dentist right away.
