Depends on your qualifications. Do you have your CPR training and a babysitting course? That kinda stuff should get you more. Also, 10 year olds usually require less attention than a small child, so how much should you really get for watching a 10 year old play video games or read books?

50 bucks is a lot for 5 hours, and I don't know any parents who would pay that. You should probably expect about 15 bucks for the whole time. It's a thankless job, as I recall.

Who pays a babysitter 10/hr for one kid like one person suggests???? I've never heard of that, lot of people might like that job. Anyway, it depends on the situation. Kid with disabilities? Age and experience may change it too. Do you actually interact with the kid or does he mostly watch himself? Cook/make snacks, help clean up all the messes that you and the child make? A good teen babysitter like that will get like 5/hr unless the people are rich. A poor babysitter won't be asked to babysit again....and the kids always tell what they think of the person.

I wouldn't expect to pay a teenager the same amount I would pay an adult who has more experience with children. I would say $25.00 would be a fair amount for 10 hours.
