Yeah, it probably would explain a lot. LOL
One way I heard it explained (why we're not all stupid and everything) is that Adam and Eve's genes were basically perfect. The reason inbreeding produces retards is that "marrying in" increases the odds of kids having the same bad gene mutations. (It kind of goes along the same lines as "If mom has bad eyesight and so does dad, chances are that I'll need glasses.")
If these mutations in the gene pool happened later on in history, it would mean that Adam and Eve's kids could afford to inbreed a little because they didn't have to worry about bad mutations. Of course, there are other biblical-style explanations for where we came from. Maybe God created more people; who knows? Anyway, good question, and I hope I gave a good answer.

Science has shown that inbreeding results in birth defects, both mental and physical. Christians, of course, refuse to believe that this has anything to do with the story of Adam and Eve. Most of them believe that these two people were the ONLY people created by God "in the beginning," so where did their first-born son get a wife?? He had to have sex with his mother, unless there was a girl born first that the story neglected to mention--in that case, he married his own sister. Either way, that's called inbreeding and would eventually result in babies born with defects. No amount of "original perfection" (which no Christian can ever prove) will take away what nature and science has shown us. Even animals instinctively avoid producing offspring with their own siblings and parents. Many animals that are endangered are suffering the effects of inbreeding from having only a small population from which to choose a mate, and will likely become extinct.
Oh, yes, and consider that Eve came from Adam's rib, had his DNA structure, and so was essentially like a twin sister to Adam! Imagine trying to grow an entire population of, say, cheetahs, from only two individuals who came from the same litter.
Those who believe in the "perfect gene" idea, please explain to me what a "perfect gene" is, what it looks like, and how it functions. Point me to a SCIENTIFIC website (not some dumb creationist site) that explains this. Proponents of this concept simply have no clue what genetics are all about, or even what a gene is. They just believe whatever their pastors tell them without bothering to research it themselves.

Adam was the First Man God Breathed life into. The First of Gods own, Not the first Man. Jesus was the Second. Adam failed God Jesus did not. In checking DNA you might find you are inbred to a lot of things Man was Created from the Particles of the Earth.

Yes, but my theory if that's true is that Adam & Eve were the pandora box of DNA and all their children had a non-identical portion of that making them different people. As the human race grew the DNA was distributed until each person only had one complete set. Therefore since nobody with any identical DNA bred there was no inbreeding.

I asked this too, and they mostly just danced around it. No real answers. They may try to give you other biblical stories. They all lead up to inbreeding. The kind of inbreeding that the biblical stories would lead up to would just kill a species. So god must have just kept us around to f*** our brothers, mothers, sisters, and cousins, etc. Now if you think about it, evolution starts sounding better, and more probable. I prefer to think that I came from a monkey, that to think that we are all related. If I want to have kids, no mater who I pick to have them with, she will basically be my sister. The reason this was the explanation, is because inbreeding was seen as OK at the time the bible was written. So the men that thought it up did not care. These facts, are the reason you are not supposed to question god/religion.

It is all unfounded conjectures written in the Bible. But in Hindu mythology also, there are accounts of marriage within same family, though those were at least, more than 10,000 years before Christ was reportedly born. During Muhammad's time at least in Arabian society, even mother and uterine sisters were not spared for sexual pleasure. Hence, Muhammad had to prevent such conduct with fear of sanction by Allah and incorporated certain injunctions in the Quran.

There were hundreds, maybe thousands of Adams and Eves in the beginning and they likely evolved. The story is just a parable, designed to put fear into the masses for control by religious leaders.

It is very clear that we did not come from one couple. Evolution of species ensured / ensures that we have large gene pool which brings us to the diversity we have today. Even today there are many adams and eves. (I know quite a few!)

Indeed, however the Lord oversees each conception, and PERHAPS we had more chomosomes or gentic materials, or what have you. God's BREATH into Adam had to be some pretty potent stuff to make him live as long as he did and being made of dirt to be made into a self thinking standing figure of flesh. Yes, it's far fetched, and not beyond God's power.

Adam and Eve are only a story.
However, the 2,000,000 or so years of history for Homo Sapiens Sapiens has had many changes and variations through mutation and evolution, inbreeding is not a problem.
