"wierd" is another word for "I don't understand," and "that doesn't fit normal expectations."

However, it is rather rude, too.

Mentally challenged, and mentally gifted, people each only make up 2% of the population. They are "different" than what is normally expected. Therefore, someone without much experience with people on these extremes will find them "wierd."

Educate yourself about them (why they act the way they do) and get over it already.

Addition:

Hey, for someone facing the challenges you do, you really have done a good job on your grammar and spelling! Keep it up!

If you are facing problems from people around you, keep in mind what I wrote earlier. They don't understand your challenges.

All that being "Mentally Challenged" means is that you need to practice each skill more than most people, in order to use it.

Once you know a skill, you can do it very well.

This also means you need more time to learn social cues. You may have trouble catching cues that go by too fast, and then not act "right" because you missed the cues.

I don't think they're weird, they just don't have the same capabilities as 'normal' people. I'd rather work and live with many of the MRDD people I've met over the years rather than some of the jerks with high IQ I've had to put up with. Most I've met have been more honest, caring, happier and more outgoing than the general population.

Mentally challenged people aren't weird! This is a handicap, and simply makes them different. Being different isn't necessarily bad; they may have some unique talents. You need to respect the differences in people, not criticize or belittle those differences!

I don't find them weird... they're just different. They dont ever seem to have a problem with quote on quote 'normal' people but we seem to have problems with them.... might that be because we don't understand them and it just kind of weirds US out?

If it applies to you, why are you using the description of "weird?" I think you are just trying to excuse your miserable self.
