No Celica or MR-S 2005

Toyota USA officially announced that the Celica & MR-S will no longer be imported to the US for the 2005 model year. Replacing the Celica in the Toyota lineup is the Scion Tc ("Toyota Celica"?). I guess, Toyota US feel that they have no room for sporty coupes anymore.

No word on overseas changes.

It was due to lack of sales, a close online friend of mine owns a 2003 Celica GTS and she was surprised that they've stopped making them after 2005, I thought they were very good cars and very stylish, sadly they just couldn't sell as well as the Celica's of the previous years.

I work for a toyota dealership my sales manager told me that they never really got rid of the celica. the scion tc is actually a celica with different body panels everything is the same as a celica chassis, engine, transmission, electronics, everything.

They stopped making the celica due to lacking sales and price factor. Why buy a fully loaded celica for 30-35k when a scion tc has more horsepower and better features for around 20k.

I have been wondering the same thing... I love Celica's, my mom had one when I was growing up and now I have a 2001 Celica, I wanted to get another newer version, but then they discontinued them, so I have to look else where :( ...

Car makers only sell what sells well.

The new Celica didn't sell enough units to warrant its return year after year.

Just the like Chevy Camaro, its sales slumped so it was discontinued as well.

Auto manufacturer insanity. I keep asking the same question about the Pontiac GrandAm.
