i am pregnant now and was wondering if i should add some baby einstein stuff to my registry, does anyone find tht it has worked in helping children advance? are there any items out of the baby einstein collection that you recommend? are there any other companies that you find have similiar products and are just as useful?

I think it depends on the child. My son LOVED baby einstein. My daughter could care less. Heck, I liked watching them!

Pro Baby Einstein, My daughter is only 14 months and she has been watching BE since she was about 3 months old. We have all the videos and CD's. She can now talk her vocabulary is at about 50 words, she knows her colors, and she is starting her ABC's. She can also do some sign language. At first she didn't pay any attention to the DVD's, but my husband who is a stay at home dad would just let them play through, now she loves them! She will sit and interact, and repeat the words with them as they go. She is much more advance them some 2 years old that she has done play dates with, and I credit most of it to BE. I think that the two largest things to keep in mind as your child grows you must interact with them while the tapes play, and you must review what they learn on the tapes. Even if you child is not watching them they can still hear them in the background. Hope this helps.

The Baby Einstein products are great. Baby Mozart in my experience is the best one for up to nine months. This comes from my personal experience and a couple other moms. It can be really helpful in the evenings when you need to make dinner or while eating dinner. Put them in a bouncey seat and put on Baby Einstein and you just might gain 20 to 30 minutes. There was a standing joke when our babies were little that Baby Mozart was dinner music because sometimes that gave us just enough time to sit down and eat dinner. The Baby Einstein flash cards are great too. I started reading and showing them to my babies as soon as they would sit in a bouncey seat and were interested. Bee Smart has similiar products that are good too.

YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!! My 4 year old nephew was raised on baby einstein and leap frog... both of them work wonders! He can read himself since he was 3 and now do simple math problems...and my husband and I started them when my daughter was born and she will hum along with the movies or point at the body parts they are talking about( shes 16 mths) but when she was 5 mths she enjoyed the activity bouncer chair that and the music cd's for the car...it always put her asleep. But Leap Frog products are good too.. we have 4 of their movies and the baby leap pad and a few other toys from their company.

I have never used any of the baby einstein, and my 5 children that I have given birth to so far are gifted & talented, and/or highly advanced.

If you like the sounds of the music, it's a good idea. I personally have always listened to a wide variety of music, which my children have grown to appreciate. They immediately asked to join band or orchestra when they became the age to join in grade school, and the others are looking forward to it. My children listen to everything from Mozart to Metallica.
Also, I always made sure to have healthy pregnancies so healthy children could be born.

The best toy in the world for your baby is YOU!!! Baby Einstein toys are well thought out, but you make all the difference in your baby's development.

I have used all these products with my son. He loved them and they helped so much with his education. My son also has a Baby Tad it helped him so much. This is from the Leap Frog collection. I also used these products when I worked in a daycare. Learning toys, books, and videos are a great idea for a babyshower. I also suggest Imaginarium.

My kid hated Baby Einstein, and she's got the highest marks in her class. In my opinion, it's not the tools it's how you use them. Nothing compares to mommy time: reading together, exploring, playing, etc.

it's great stuff for little babies but i didn't see in big difference between my son watching that and watching public television.... what works best is if you take the time to talk to your baby...like he is an adult... take him to see and do new things often it's a Big world explore it together!!! bonus it's a lot of fun when your baby starts to talk and can tell you about all the palces you've taken him and ask to go back again... my son just turned 3 and recently told me about the trip to washington d.c we took when he was 4 months old!!!!

My son loved the videos as an infant and toddler. I can't say they helped him advance, but they certainly kept his attention.
