When you go to sleep, you are completely unconcious. When you die, your brain shuts down, so why would you feel any different than you do when you sleep? Isn't death just sleep with no dreams? I really hope this isn't true... It's making me really depressed and anxious all the time.

Death only pertains to our physical incarnation in this reality. In truth our souls never die. They are eternal. Always were, always will be, just like God. Read the book Home with God by Neale Donald Walsch. It offers a hopeful and wonderful message about dying which will take all fear of death away from you forever.

Death is not non-existence, it is on a cycle that keeps Life going on otherwise there won't be any babies for you to cuddle with =) so don't fear and be anxious about it.

Sleeping is not thorough unconscious but our mind is still working which means to have dreams to work on issues that bothers you like when to meet your prince charming and how to face your grumpy old boss.

Death is part of us which is similar to Life

Death is not sleep. When you are asleep, even when you are not dreaming, your mind is still active, albeit in a different way, unconsciously. When you are dead, you have no capacity for any mental activity, including dreaming. When you're dead, your mind simply doesn't exist anymore, in any way.

You need not be captive to the fear of death.

For believers, the Bible says, To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life.
Eternal life, with Him, in our glorified state.

Not too scary, then, is it?
