Having just got this jeep a 2006, I've been told not to pay any attention to the little knocking sounds between gears. This was normal. I still question this but what about the clutch? Even at idle, if I push in the clutch and then release it, I hear this faint "knock" sound. This too I question. What is this? Should I be concerned? Are all these sounds normal for a jeep? Even new ones?

I have a new 2006 too and the Jeep mechanics said not to worry about strange sounds. I had a 2001 before this and the hood material was thicker, so perhaps we are hearing normal sounds. Don't worry, your warrenty should cover most problems, if indeed their are any. I have seven thousand miles on mine, how many do you have?

Try out a new Jeep just like yours and see if the noise is there.

A slight rub or tick (very faint) when you shift can be heard, but if it's more than that, I would go to the dealer and have it checked under warranty. Also, you could test drive another new one to compare.
