HEY A KARATE QUESTION!

"Osu" is just a very masculine and very colloquial Japanese greeting. It means something like "hey" or "wassup". It's not specific to budo, and wouldn't necessarily be appropriate in a traditional Japanese dojo.

Baseball players say it when they enter the clubhouse, and guys with "macho" jobs like construction workers greet each other that way. It's not a good way to greet a stranger or a senpai, but it's ok with guys you know and are on the same team with, etc.

I've never heard "Osu" used in aikido, only karate.

According to this link http://www.answers.com/osu it is only used in three styles of Karate - JIKC, Kyokushin, and Wado-ryu Karate - but there is something mentioned about osu in Aikido on this link - http://nemesys321.tripod.com/
