She takes too long saying grace at dinner and expects us to wait for her while our food gets cold. How can I get her to just bless it and end it? We are too hungry and busy for all that. I mean- we can't personally help all the people she prays for and it's not like Ramen noodles are going to "nourish our bodies and minds" or "give us strength". Is there a much shorter version I could teach her??

Tell her that God is really hungry too. And he feeds off of our nourishment. So he gets his thanks from each bite we take for ourselves. So just look up and give him a thumbs up and pig out!

You could maybe ask her to break it up a bit. Stick to the stuff that deals with the food you're about to eat ("nourish our bodies and minds" or "give us strength") and then she can pray for all the people she wants to pray for when she goes to bed. I'm figuring that if she wants to pray that much, she prays at night before she sleeps so she could just incorporate the other stuff then. My grandfather would always pray for "travelling mercies" for those of us who had to drive a couple of hours when we prayed at dinner but other than that, it was about thanking God for the food.

Allow your daughter to take as long as she likes in prayer. There should not be a time limit on her relationship with GOD. He patiently waits on us, you can patiently wait for her to THANK him for all that he provides. For her to take the time to pray for others, is a direct indication of her compassion and unselfishness. She had to learn it from somewhere. Hopefully from you. Furthermore, the bible prophesied about wide spread famine amongst other things. Hunger effects so many people across the globe and even in this country. For them a bowl of Ramen noodles would be an answer to a prayer. Try a little humility and maybe you should take a few extra minutes to THANK GOD as well, we all should!

If you are at her house, tough it out..
If she is little, tell someone else to pray, and pray with her about the other things before dinner or after, but pray..
All in all you should be praying more as she has these burdens on her heart and you only pray at meals.. Maybe your daughter is teaching you something..

Be thankful that she is willing to pray. Ask her to bless the food out loud, finish the blessing then bless the larger group silently, while she eats her noodles! Good luck

My daughter is six too. When she prays too long I just tell her to stop, that there is no God. After dinner I tell her I was just kidding. It's been going on for about 3 months now.

Child of God, you can spare a few moments out of your day before stuffing your face to thank God for all he has given you.

To keep peace in the family (and follow Gods word), you might remind your daughter that "Grace" before meal is a prayer of thanksgiving, not of intercession. Encourage her to pray privately (as Jesus instructed) before bedtime with all of her intercessions.

May God bless you and your family, and hear your daughters prayers.

Just start eating. If she complains, tell her she takes too damn long to practice her nonsense while others are hungry. If she'd like you to wait, then tell her to hurry the hell up.

Rub a dub dub, thanks for the grub

God is good, God is great, thank you for, this food on our plate. AMEN.

Dear heavenly Father thank you for this food that your have given to us, let us not be fooled to think it is from our own hands, but only from your giving grace. In your Son Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
