Since the hair is naturally red and she wants to go lighter ( blonde) The best thing to use is regular hair color. Select the shade you prefer just do not use anything with a gold, orange, or red base. Use either a blue or violet base to tone out the red ad the hair lightens otherwise you may end up with an unusual shade of blonde.

Might be difficult to get red hair to go blond as you can easily get hair to go darker but not so easy to go lighter. You will probably need to put on a hair lightener first before the blond dye. But I would say your best bet is to go to a salon because they know what they are doing.

I'm a redhead and I wear blondish highlights that I put in myself. There are several available at your local market. I find that "less is best" with red hair cause just a little goes a long way! Otherwise you look washed out. I start underneath exactly where I want the highlight, and it looks sun streaked instead of "homemade". Hope it comes out good! Here's to beautiful redheads!!!! God Bless.

ATTENTION ZOE!!!!!
Please please please take her to a salon!
A high lift tint might work, but her hair may need a touch of bleach to give it a kick.
Red is the hardest colour to remove from hair, and the stylist will take a few strand tests to see what will work and how long it will take to process.
They will also suggest hi-lites or full head depending on her hair and how red it is.
Please dont try doing it at home, if it goes wrong it could damage the hair or scalp, or she may be left with an orange/brassy colour, as some red hair wont budge past a certain shade, regardless of how much bleach is put on it!!
And ignore all suggestions of sun in....it wrercks your hair!

A good salon is what you need. I have a red-head friend who has blonde highlights in her hair that are pretty, but I don't know if it would look good all blonde.

My mother is a certified beutician and has red hair and recently died it honey blonde. What you should do is use a very light blonde to get the desired color. because her hair is such a dark color (yes red is dark) if you want honey blonde use platinum blonde dye. If your hair is dark and you pick the color you want it will be darker than what you want.

Just get it dyed blonde for her (blonde strips, not all blonde) it's prettier. I'm sensing u don't like the idea of her getting a diff hair colour. Don't worry, it's only a phase, she'll get over it. I hope!

Get professional advice. I agree red hair is beautiful. Maybe some temporary extensions or highlights would satisfy her need for a change.

Go to a salon and they will dye it for her. I don't suggest dying her hair with the junk from a box, it might come out really ugly. Good Luck!
