Peterborough, Ontario ( 80 miles NE of Toronto ) is a fun and interesting place to visit. Little Lake is right downtown and is host of two outdoor festivals and firework displays each week throughout the summer. You can take a boat tour through the highest lift locks in the world which is located in town and if you have access to a boat or want to rent one you can travel the entire Trent canal system. There are several choices of accommodations including the Holiday Inn which is on the Little Lake waterfront or if you prefer, Beavermead Campground also located on the lake. Lots of swimming, fishing and boating opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts and several excellent galleries and museums for those who are more interested in the cultural aspects of the area. There's a bit of something for everyone, and the scenery is beautiful to beat.

It depends how far you want to go. Collingwood (it's the town near Blue Mountain) has Wasaga Beach during the summer, and of course, skiing and snowboarding at Blue in the winter. Also, there's a resort around an hour out of the city called the Nottawasaga Inn. Also, a great place to get away for a weekend.

Go to Niagara Falls! But with your proximity to Toronto, I'd guess you've been to the Falls once or twice already.

Try Cleveland - it might be 5-7 hours of driving, depending on customs issues or traffic, but you could visit the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame and downtown Cleveland.

I recommend Sandbanks Provincial Park - either stay in the park or a motel nearby. I stumbled on this glorious place last year - the dunes are fabulous, and the water so clean and clear. It is located in Prince Edward County and easy driving distance from T.O. Great thing is, it is in wine country as well.

If you're looking for a good night life - go to Windsor. It's only 4hours away and you can gamble all night and the bar scene is pretty good. Now that it's summer, there's also different festivals every weekend down by the water (Blues Fest, Celtic Fest, etc).

Are you driving?

I love the Kingston area and Prince Edward County.

Or, if you would drive further, it's only 5 or 6 hours to Montreal.

Rice Lake is less than an hour away, north east of T.O., or just under two hours north east, the Muskoka's, Bracebridge area has it all, lakes, boats, cottages, bars, concerts, etc.
