Thank you to those who answered.I wated to say that I love my daughter no matter what, but she is so upset by her acne, that she feel low and I keep telling her to keep her hair back off it, but it looks so bad that even though she knows it will go away if she keeps her hair of it, she is so worried someone will see it that she will not leave her hair up to clear it up. I can understand where she is coming from. I do tell her beauty is skin deep, but remember she is a teenager trying to look good and fit in and it is hard to tell them what they should do when it comes to the way they look. I want to also add we have tried proactive, but it doesn't do a great job for her. I guess our next step will have to be the dermatologist.Thank you to all of you who answered. We appreciate it all.

The dermatologist will prescribe a pill. This worked for a friend of mine who had severe cystic acne. Proactive didn't work for him either.

My DIL had this problem and she did have to go to a doc he gave her an oral and a topical medication which cleared it up well. also she changed her pillow cases every other day and learned to keep her hand off her face. Also don't over clean the face it cause more oil and then more problems with acne.
I have rosaasa and had cyst type acne I personally just use a light shampoo on my face once a day and clean my pours with an egg white mask with a little mint or lemon once a week suck the oil out with out making the skin to overly oily. just wait until it drys and then wash off. only once a week though. also tell her to keep her hair clean. Off the face if possible at least at home in a pony tail
I personally don't use a lot of over the counter stuff have come to the conclusion alot of those chemical cause the problem making it worse some times. My skin looks pretty great now and no more meds now just doing the shampoo and egg thing.
My DIl looks great now too just shampooing her hair keeping hands off face changing the pillow case often and also the doing the mask thing.

hope this works for you Diane

I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!

Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:

1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.

There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.

im not sure if i answered this question particularly, but i would recommend taking vitamin E capsules. my face has cleared up since i started taking them. im older but have had problems due to stress etc..but i have no break outs right now knock on wood, but i was having bad problems, the bad spots i ripped the capsule open and applied to trouble spots at night time and it cleared right up.plus i treid to wash my face once in the morning with something delicate, dial soap with lavendar and oatmeal in it.( you can probably use any light hypoallergenic soap. or just straight up warm water, better then nothing.good luck!

The simple cure for acne is of course diet.
But failing a good diet vitamin suplements taken daily are very effective.

PLEASE PLEASE! have her try Murad acne treatment. I had horrible acne ,nothing helped, not even the Proactive stuff, that actually seemed to make it worse. I not only had acne on my face, I had it every where, like my arms, back and even a little on my legs. You can order Murad on line, it's even a little cheaper then proactive. PLEASE give it shot. Good Luck and God Bless.
