The New York Times is exposing secret ways the U.S. government is combating terrorists. The Times is endangering innocent lives, and helping the terrorists in their goal to kill Americans.
The U.S. has laws on the books to punish Americans who give aid and comfort to our enemies during war time.
What should happen to the New York Times? Boycott? A boycott of their advertisers?

The federal government begged the Times to not publish the secrets. The Times had a choice: Publish information that probably will result in a longer war with more deaths, or not. They chose to make it harder to win the war.
Doesn't freedom come with responsibility? Is it responsible to help the radical Islamists?

Would those of you supporting the Times, also support them if they published stratigic maps of Iraq, showing locations of military personal, and planned future troop movements and operational details? How about weak points in base security? Just how far do you want the Times to go in helping the enemy?

I believe in Freedom of Speech but giving out Military Secrets is not even covered under Free Speech at all.
I think we need to send the Marine Corps into the New York Times building, have them arrest the Traitor Reporters and put them on a quick Trial before an Ultra Conservative Judge who will sentence the Traitors to be shot.

The New york time should be prosecuted. Also, whoever is leaking this information to the Time should be sought out and prosecuted for treason. The Time seems to ignore the fact that we are actually in a war. Last week the congress officially wrapped the Iraq war into the overall war on terrorism, this was published online by yahoo. We ARE in a war. The times is endangering many lives by publishing info on the monitoring of money transfers. It seem to me that the Time is acting in conjunction with our enemies, and in complete opposition to our government. Also, the Times, is acting irresponsibly in publishing anything that could undermine our war efforts. The public does not have a right to know everything that our government is doing, especially during a time of war. We do have a right to privacy, but I don't think that extends to monetary transactions people undertake between the US and other countries, especially countries that harbor enemies of the United States. People have the misperception that freedom is free, and that everything they have is theirs. It is not, and the supreme court demonstrated that when they allowed the government to use emminant domain, to take your property and give it to businesses that would only use it to make a profit. Your property and your money is not really yours. It belongs to the government. The government can devalue your dollars tomorrow if they wanted to, it might not be the smartest thing to do, but they could do it. What you are doing with your money, especially if you are aiding the enemy is definately something the government needs to be watching.
Shut down the TIMES and Prosecute the reporters, the editors and the publishers for war crimes and TREASON!!!!!!!!

The New York Times is the best example of yellow journalism we have in this country today. They make their money pandering to the left, making up stories that supports their agenda and publishing state secrets.
What is different if I - as a private citizen with a Top Secret security clearance - tell state secrets? The difference is that I would be in jail with the key thrown away.
Why is the New York Times treated differently when their exposure of state secrets causes infinitely more irreparable harm? That is the question I want answered. Freedom of the press does not mean they can publish whatever they want to. With every right comes the responsibility to exercise that freedom judiciously.
Grow up, NYT and start acting like responsible Americans. Unless, that is, you really DO wish to see America fail ...

I wish. Unfortunately there is no law against a newspaper printing information that they are given. However, the people who give them that information can be and should be prosecuted.
A Boycott would be good since the New York Times insists upon printing articles that could potentiallly cause harm to the public.

Are you aware that all media is controled by Neocons, all.
This is your homework, look up who owns the NY Times.
Now look up what the owners pay in Bribes to Congress and in who's pocket the bribes go.. In education you will find truth..
BTW, who leaked the troop reduction in Iraq information from the "clasified meeting" held by Gen. George Casey jr. to the press?
Iraq will go from 14 to 5 or 6 brigades by end of 2007. Sounds almost like the same plan Kerry/feingold just lost in Congress.
Mr Cool wants to send troops into the times, ha, ha, ha, ha.
How many Neocon Republicans would you shoot or arrest?
I wonder would you also send troops to get Scooter and Bu$h and Cheney taken to prison for treason, i'll bet. Scooter will roll over on Cheney and Bush.. He will not go to prison for them.

Prosecuting the Times would cause a repercussion on the Freedom of Speech and of the Press you Americans so genuinely cherish. In the first place, it's the US government who should do something about this. If they're not doing anything about it, it's most likely that it's all propaganda.

they are the publisher.......where do they get the info? From "undisclosed government sources who speak on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the information". It is the govt informants who are getting $$ slipped to them under the table who should be castrated.
I hate the times as much as you but put the blame where it is due.

Did you moan about Geraldo Rivera when he was giving away coordinates?
Exposing tactics and exposing locations are different.
The media is about just that. Exposing things.
Some we like, some we don't.
