Take the little one to most any vet or rescue place, they won't charge to tell you if you have a girl or boy.

'Lucky' is one of the more popular common names for this situation.

However depending on personality types there are a few others.

If this isn't your wife's first rescue... 'Poss' short for Suppository
This one is a bit more common in cases where hubby thinks there is already enough pets.

Want a bit more class?
Sultan for a male.
Dutchie or Duchess for a little girl.
After all these little rescues usually end up being treated as royalty.

You could just call it 'little bit' for a while until you know it's gender and starts showing it's own personality. At 10 days old it will only be a couple of weeks before the little one will start doing things on it's own.

I've found that many pets earn their name. You won't want to call a couch potato 'Scrappy'

Congratulations on your new family member!

THE NAMING OF CATS
The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter,
It isn't just one of your holiday games;
You may think at first I'm as mad as a hatter
When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.
First of all, there's the name that the family use daily,
Such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo or James,
Such as Victor or Jonathan, or George or Bill Bailey -
All of them sensible everyday names.
There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter,
Some for the gentlemen, some for the dames:
Such as Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter -
But all of them sensible everyday names.
But I tell you, a cat needs a name that's particular,
A name that's peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can he keep up his tail perpendicular,
Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride?
Of names of this kind, I can give you a quorum,
Such as Munkustrap, Quaxo, or Coricopat,
Such as Bombalurina, or else Jellylorum -
Names that never belong to more than one cat.
But above and beyond there's still one name left over,
And that is the name that you never will guess;
The name that no human research can discover -
But THE CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess.
When you notice a cat in profound meditation,
The reason, I tell you, is always the same:
His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation
Of the thought, of the thought, of the thought of his name:
His ineffable effable
Effanineffable
Deep and inscrutable singular Name.

How about:

"LUCKY" = can b Male or Female ! ! !
(my cat was saved in a similar way)

Youths were kicking her around the street, and my friend bought her in to me, shaking, an terrified and 'lucky' to be alive, she was only 10/12 months old at the time, and. . . she was pure black ! ! ! She's almost 12 now, and doin fantastic, she is extreemly loyal an loving.

Name him or her "Lucky". Because he or she is lucky to be alive. If Mother didn't want it and you wife saved it from death, than the name fits. It goes with both male or female.

It depends on the colour of the cat when choosing a really good name.

My cat is vishnu - a god (male or female).

It's all good and well to come up with a silly name, but we won't be the one's trying to call it in a midnight.

Why not George? (George or Georgia).
